I like the therapist but talkspace billed my insurance under behavioral health instead of using my employee assistance program which should have given me 10 free visits. Now I'm stuck with a bill for $125 per visit. They're saying that because they submitted to my insurance, they can't change to use my EAP so either I pay or they send it to collections.

I was seeing a doctor/psychiatrist that was excellent. She was helping me manage my medication. I was regularly meeting with her on the platform to keep up on my progress. I was shocked when without warning, all of my appointments were cancelled without my knowledge including my appointments with my doctor, my therapist and my marriage counselor. I was informed by the AI on the app that my insurance needed updating (which I concur had rolled over with my husbands employer on July 1st) In a desperate attempt to keep my apppintment with my doctor, i followed the instructions on the app ( which are not in any way iser friendly) Again only to be notified that there was some error and my information could not be verified. It was a holiday weekend so no customer service was available to help me. It is 2 days later and i am still desperately trying to get help so that i can talk to my doctor. No one has reached out to me or offered help. The only reason I gave 2 stars was because my health providers have helped me tremendously. I have still not been able to receive the help i need or enter my new health insurance because the system continues to be in an error state. I will not be recommending this app to anyone. Mental health care is not a toy. Users should have notification well in advance of the platform cutting off services so that they can update their insurance information as needed. This has caused me mental stress and I am still wondering when or if I will be able to resume care and medication management.

The only reason Talkspace doesn’t get only one star is because I love my therapist and I appreciated the convenience of finding a good match and virtual therapy in general. That being said, Talkspace has absolutely terrible customer service and is wildly overpriced while obviously taking all the money for themselves and not supporting their therapists. Typical corporate structure built on overscheduling and burning out their therapists, not supporting their therapists nor the clients.

This isn't a review about my therapist, this is specifically for TalkSpace. TalkSpace will not provide invoices, due dates, or notices for when you will be charged for your sessions. They send it to your insurance, once the insurance processes it you will then get charged directly to the card or bank account you provided when signing up for their services. If you have a usually empty bank account like mine, then this will be a problem as I have to budget and track every penny coming out of my account. This has caused me to overdraw, come up short for rent or other bills, and had to dispute one of the charges with my bank because I was charged for a full 60 min when the provider was only with me for 30. I have been seeing my therapist since the beginning of March, I just got billed for the three sessions I've had all at once so $325 was unexpectedly taken out of my account and I now have no money for gas to get to work for the next two weeks since they happened to hit my bank account right after I was paid. I had previous communication with TalkSpace regarding getting notices or invoices before they charge my account and they told me they are unable to do so but is happy to provide me with an account summary at the end of the billing cycle each month..like that would help me in the moments they are unexpectedly taking money out of my account. If you are on a tight budget and you have really bad insurance like I do (giant booooooooooo to united healthcare, insurance is the biggest scam in the USA) then do not go through TalkSpace, go through a provider that is willing to invoice you or tell you the cost ahead of time. I paid $124 for one session, $66 for the second, and $132 for the third so I can't even plan for these expenses. If they would be willing to give me an invoice amount and a date they will be charging my account I can work with that but they won't.

We appreciated the therapist’s support. However, the sessions tended to be more open-ended and did not provide the level of structure or clear guidance we were looking for. Over time, we found ourselves revisiting the same issues without defined strategies or agreements to move things forward. For couples dealing with recurring conflict, a more directive and structured approach may be helpful.

I have had more issues with this platform than any other platform that I’ve ever used so in the middle of me having sessions the application will refresh and then I have to get back into a video and if it’s towards the end, then it’ll just cut me off. I had issues with my insurance apparently you weren’t supposed to use insurance you were supposed to use something else on a resource page and because I didn’t use that it wasn’t free so I ended up having to pay for it and then when I did use the free application, it got so screwed up that I didn’t get my free sessions and basically y’all told me that oh well so maybe working with your clients that use this application may be a better scenario than just telling him your shit out of luck it left a bad taste in my mouth… Most of the people on here really don’t seem to give a crap about your well-being. I’ve met two that seem like they’re pretty decent. One was very passive aggressive though so I ended up having to go with someone that will actually call me out. I did a gene test with you guys and y’all were supposed to do a pre-authorization before we did the gene test and didn’t so then I got that left in my lap and I had to take care of everything. I sent in a ticket about it and it didn’t get resolved. I basically had to try and resolve it on my own. I just have not had a good experience.. My therapist doesn’t know how to do any of the background stuff on her end to make any of the corrections, the passive aggressive gal that I had before at least new more about that so that when I came into issues this time I knew a little bit But I think it’s wrong that if someone cancels their appointment six minutes after the cut off that you completely take away their credit and don’t allow them to get their therapy that they need. I think that is absolutely disgusting. If my insurance didn’t use this company I would not be using you. Period.

Unfortunately, I am not impressed and will not be using talk space anymore. I went through two different therapists. The first one was just extremely flaky. And she was flaky in the most inconvenient way. I don’t complain about how busy I am, but I don’t have a lot of free time. If I’m paying someone and they’re inconveniencing me that’s a dealbreaker. The second therapist was just extremely unprepared. The last session had nothing to do with why I was in therapy and she didn’t remember anything about my situation and that she assigned me homework. The entire session ended up being about me writing a list of things I needed to do to move & get back into school. I didn’t tell her I needed help with that at any point. In fact, I tried to politely tell her I’m good in that department but she wasn’t catching the multiple hints. She also was extremely negative about me considering going back to school to get my masters. I think the session was pretty bogus because it had nothing to do with my childhood trauma and the reason why I was in therapy. I communicated this to her in the two first sessions and somehow the third session ended up being unprofessional and not helpful because she doesn’t take notes or come prepared. She just kind of shoots from the hip. I went back to in person therapy and my first session was so professional, and she was so prepared that I’m not going to bother with talk space.

The company has completely gone dark on any sort of support. Just unresponsive to phone calls or messages over the course of almost 2 months with multiple follow ups. The providers are fine, but I'm trying to get linked with a specific provider for couple's therapy - sessions we already pre-paid for - and I just can't get a response.
