Talkiatry is running a scam with their billing practices. They falsely charged me using CPT code 99214, which represents a high-complexity service I never received. My telehealth sessions were simple and straightforward, yet they inflated the charges to maximize their profits. When I tried to dispute this, their customer service was useless—redirecting me to outsourced teams in India who had no authority to resolve anything. It’s clear Talkiatry is more interested in squeezing money out of patients than providing honest, transparent care. Avoid this company at all costs. Their billing practices are unethical, and their customer service is a nightmare. Don’t trust them with your health or your wallet.

Billing con artists. I asked for a quote since I am out of Talkiatry’s network but have partial out of network coverage. By law, mental health providers are required to provide the cost before a visit. They gave me a number: $271. They said, we’d be happy to file the out of network claim for you. Behind my back, they filed for $550 instead of $271. This increased my co-insurance. And is illegal. You can’t charge more than what you quote. When I called them on it, they lied and said that they had a contract with my insurance company that required them to charge $550. They do not have a contract. That is what being out of network means. For the next visit, I said I would pay and get a recept from them and file the claim myself. So I was billed and paid the $271. This is where things became surreal. They refused to give me a proper receipt. Each time they sent a receipt it would leave out necessary information. For weeks I am back and forth with them explaining what a receipt needs to contain (diagnosis code, procedure code, NPI#, EIN#, signature, etc). And while I am going back and forth, they then, behind my back, file a claim with my insurance company for $550 with proceeds going to them - for the visit I already paid them $271 for. So now I won’t get reimbursed and they have double-billed and will get a total of over $700 for a 30 minute visit. I contacted the legal/compliance officer and got no response. I am reporting them to the Healthcare Unit at the NYS Attorney General’s Office.

I happened to come across this and the very first thing I see is the word "Insurance" after a minute of browsing the next word I see is "Billing" now why would I want to go and even look at anymore because that's a turnoff from the start. I felt like it was all about getting that money more than making someone feel welcomed and what can this company offer to the customers other then the words that really stuck out. I have insurance and could pay but I refuse to feel like I'm there as a number not a person

The billing practices are criminal. I am a medical coder and what they do is unethical. I have BCBS but I still have a bill for our of pocket costs at around 3,000. They just dropped me as a patient for non payment when I am on a payment plan. I need my meds. Scam company.

This review is all about the ridiculous bill that I received for a 1/2 hour visit with my insurance being accepted. My bill was $387!!! For 1/2 hour! Roughly $200 was for a service that I didn't receive. It was $650 before insurance adjustments.This service is an outright scam. I truly wished that I had searched reviews ahead of time. Unless you have unlimited disposable income, steer clear!!! ***Update: I have spoken to a few different people and all I am hearing is that the charges are correct and after review even the $200 charge for a service that I didn't receive was also coded and billed correctly. I am supposed to hear back from another person soon, most likely to waste more of my time saying that there's nothing that they can do.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They sent me an email saying that my insurance was approved and that my appointment was confirmed. I waited excitedly for 2 weeks to finally talk to someone. I received multiple reminders saying remember your appointment. Today 48 hours before the scheduled time they write and say my appointment has been canceled, they made a mistake and my insurance isn't accepted. This is someone's mental health they are jerking around. Before writing this review I first reached out to the company. There response, "I understand that this must be distressing"

If you need help go elsewhere All they care about is insurance. Asking someone who is in a bad mental state to wait 18 days to talk to someone is unacceptable while submitting insurance over and over. They canceled my appointment and asked me to resubmit insurance. They don't care about your health. They care about money. Talkiatry was no help at all..in fact it made me more anxious. 300 doctors but an 18 day wait.

Talkiatry literally worsened my mental health instead of helping it. — customer support agents are worse than an AI chatbot. Sure, they can be friendly, but their understanding of critical patient matters is BELOW 0. —the doctors have prescribed me the wrong dosages, wrong quantities, and get ANNOYED at the PATIENT when THEY made the mistake. —if i need to do the work of the customer support team, pharmacy, and psychiatrist, you might as well pay me handsomely. —they just have a bunch of pill pushers as doctors with outsourced indians for customer support. Good luck with your mental health if you go here. However, if you’re a drug addict who needs a pill pusher, this is the right place for you.
