This is the best psychiatrist setup I've ever had and I've had about a dozen in a decade. Being virtual is perfect for me since I have anxiety about going out. There is no front desk to be rude or mess up appointments. The automated system works seamlessly. Dr Gulati is WONDERFUL!! She is patient and kind and never judgemental. She really listens and makes my care a team effort between the two of us, not just her giving me orders that I'm supposed to blindly follow. She's the best!! I've already recommended Talkiatry to friends and family members.

Fine so long as you don’t need admin help
While the care is top-notch, the billing department refuses to answer emails.

Talkiatry came highly recommended to me…
Talkiatry came highly recommended to me and I am glad that I was able to work with helpful people. One issue that I do have an occasional problem with is that I don't always understand someone especially when they leave a message. Working with my doctor is great and I have no issue with understanding her but some of the other helpers of Talkiatry, I do. I ask that if someone leaves a message or I speak with to please slow down and be very clear, this would be appreciated. I have an issue with hearing and comprehending at times.
My experience happened several times over the years but I went as far back as I could.

Easy and convenient scheduling BUT TERRIBLE BILLING!!
Overall:
While the platform and scheduling experience are great, the diagnostic approach felt rushed and impersonal, and the billing practices were a complete nightmare. I can’t recommend Talkiatry based on my experience. Based on other reviews, looks like it is consistently the poor experience everyone has encountered. Try other telehealth services like Betterhelp or through your insurance provider, this I am never going back to!
Pros:
Talkiatry was easy to schedule, with far shorter wait times compared to traditional brick-and-mortar clinics.
Their follow-up and reminder system is solid, and the platform itself is clean, intuitive, and easy to navigate.
My session with the psychiatrist was decent and straightforward overall.
Cons:
The doctor diagnosed me almost immediately based solely on the questionnaire and kept pushing a treatment plan.
The biggest issue, though, has been billing. When I signed up, I was told my out-of-pocket cost with insurance would be $40—but the actual bill came out to over $750. They charged me for additional services I never received. The psychiatrist’s notes reflected psychotherapy minutes that simply did not happen, and those “minutes” were of long enough duration to qualify as an additional billable service.
My insurance paid its portion according to my plan, but even after insurance, the $750 Talkiatry billed was ridiculous. When I questioned the charges, they kept insisting they “can’t break codes” after taking insurance payments—when they were the ones who billed incorrectly in the first place. I was told that if I had issues, I needed to take it up with my insurance provider, which was incredibly frustrating.

Perfectly matched provider for my needs!
Talkiatry has not only matched me with an incredible provider who I trust and actually listens to my unique needs as a patient, but the platform is easy to navigate, takes my insurance and is extremely responsive for scheduling or rescheduling appointments, last minute refill needs and makes copay payments so easy. I even refer my own clients to Talkiatry, as I am a clinician!

Unethical and potentially dangerous if you are truly having mental health issues
My experience with Talkiatry has been nothing short of appalling. This company engages in what I consider to be predatory and unethical billing practices. They have charged me large sums of money for services that were never provided, and their communication with patients is virtually nonexistent. Trying to get answers or accountability from them feels impossible.
For a company that claims to support people’s mental health, their actions are deeply hypocritical and harmful. Exploiting patients—many of whom may already be in a fragile mental state—through excessive and unjustified charges is not only unethical but downright dangerous. Financial stress can seriously worsen someone’s mental health, and Talkiatry’s behavior shows a shocking disregard for that reality.
I would strongly caution anyone considering this company to think twice. Transparency, compassion, and integrity are essential in mental health care, and in my experience, Talkiatry has failed on all fronts.

Pricing is insane!
I recently signed up with Talkiatry and was excited to finally get some support. The next day, I received an email saying my insurance had been approved, so I called in to get a simple quote for my upcoming appointment. After being transferred a few times, I was told it would cost $300–$500 WITH INSURANCE. That number stopped me in my tracks. For a service that markets itself as accessible and convenient, that price felt completely out of reach.
I asked to speak with customer service so I could cancel. I sat on hold for nearly 20 minutes—long enough to feel like they were hoping I’d just give up. I hung up, called again, and oddly enough got someone almost immediately. After a few more back-and-forth moments, they finally canceled my appointment.
The whole experience left me wondering who they’re actually trying to serve. With prices like that, it certainly doesn’t feel like they’re focused on everyday people trying to get help. Mental health care should feel supportive, not stressful or financially impossible.
