Not only is the scheduling dept. completely incompetent, but the doctors themselves are inexperienced. One doctor actually told me to cut a 300 mg pill in half, despite my explicitly stating that I should be slowly and safely weaned off this medication. Even I knew that recommendation was inappropriate. On top of that, my appointment with one physician was cancelled without proper notice and I was arbitrarily reassigned to another doctor. This is unacceptable—especially considering I rearranged my entire day for the specific doctor I requested. The lack of continuity of care, poor clinical judgment, and disorganization reflect a serious disregard for patient safety and professionalism. Cheap is expensive and expensive is cheap-I would rather pay out of pocket than deal with doctors who don't diagnosis, rather, just medicate.

I tried Talkiatry expecting competent psychiatric care and an experienced clinician able to handle complex cases with professionalism. Unfortunately, the provider, Dr. Hannah Goddard to whom I was assigned was very inexperienced and did not demonstrate an understanding of my history or current needs. Important details were overlooked, and the recommendations I received were generic and poorly suited to my situation. It was clear she lacked the depth of psychiatric training/experience required for nuanced or treatment-resistant cases. This had real consequences for my care, including delays in appropriate treatment and much unnecessary stress during a time when I needed clarity and stability. Patients considering Talkiatry should know that you may be matched with a provider who lacks the expertise you require. If your case is at all complex, or you need someone seasoned, I recommend looking elsewhere. The model appears to prioritize quick matching over clinical competence.

I went on to see what the cost would be for me. Without me confirming they scheduled an appt, it took over 30 min and 3 calls to get it cancelled. Your AI is horrible, then I got transferred to Juan who refused to help me unless I gave him all my information. Even more than you ask on the website, then he disconnected the call. Juan needs to lose his job. I would NEVER and I mean NEVER recommend your company. It is shady from the beginning. Great job stressing people out with what you are " supposed " to be helping with.

I waited over a week for an ADHD evaluation through Talkiatry, only to walk away feeling completely dismissed and honestly exploited. I spent an entire hour being vulnerable — talking about my trauma history, sexual assault, mood symptoms, and long-term mental health struggles — just to be told at the very end that they “don’t treat individuals who are currently suicidal or chronically suicidal,” even though I never said I was chronically suicidal. I described intermittent ideation over the years, which is a reality for many people seeking mental-health care. On top of that, I disclosed at the very beginning that I have a medical marijuana card. If that alone disqualified me from treatment, the clinician should have said so immediately. Instead, she continued the full evaluation, asked every deeply personal question, and then informed me that Talkiatry doesn’t treat people with medical marijuana cards. That policy was never advertised anywhere. It felt like my time, energy, and emotional labor were taken advantage of for a session they knew they wouldn’t continue. The entire experience felt invalidating, unprofessional, and frankly unethical. If these are Talkiatry’s exclusion criteria, they should be transparent upfront instead of putting clients through painful disclosures for no reason. I would never recommend them based on this experience.

What I initially hoped would be a simple diagnostic appointment has turned into ongoing support and monitoring to maintain or improve my care plan! I am so grateful for a consistent provider and genuine, thoughtful care!
