My experience with Talkiatry has been extremely poor. I went through them to see a specific provider and was scheduled with that provider as they allowed me to do via ZocDoc. She then canceled our first session and at the time Talkiatry would not allow me to reschedule with her as she apparently did not manage my diagnoses, which is incorrect. So I went to her directly to schedule. Since then when the psychiatrist needs to reschedule they will send a link with offerings, however every time you try to schedule using the links it continually says she is not available. Then their billing department is completely inept. Every month I have had to call and tell them to bill my secondary insurance, meanwhile they send me bills saying the amounts are past due. Then they offer an option to pay for a specific date of service, however then decide to allocate the funds however they like even if the dates of service are pending insurance!!! The only reason I continue to put up with this is that the psychiatrist is phenomenal and quite honestly saved my life. Trust me, I have told her she needs to leave and start her own practice.

So while I don't think they are a scam, as I actually received medication from a doctor and my Co-Pay was very low, their customer service is horrendous. First, they charge $100 for a missed visit, which for an online place is insane. 2. Trying to change providers from the one they initially assign to you is a headache. I requested a changed in provider, got confirmation from them twice that it would take 10 days (2 separate 10 day emails for a total of over 20 days) and then my provider sends me a letter that they are cancelling our relationship with the company all together! And it's been crickets from the actual company since then. Do not give these people your money, they are not worth your business until they improve their horrible customer experience.

I had high hopes for this company. My first vist was very generic, was perscibed a medication I could of gotten from hims, they billed my insurance over $1,000.00!!!! This is absolutely ridiculous. This place is a scam and they over charge for the services rendered. I emed up having to pay almost $400 out of my hra account for what? I was charged for two different services which makes zero sense. Avoid this place, save your money and just go to you pcp or find something local.

It may have been naïve to believe the Talkiatry marketing materials. I suppose it’s only natural to believe that medical providers, especially those that specialize in psychiatric care would possess a little more awareness, compassion, and care than this business does. My recommendation to anyone considering engaging Talkiatry or any of their medical providers is that you don’t. Most of your interactions with the business itself will involve phone calls at the last minute to cancel the appointment that you have scheduled that very same day you are receiving the cancellation call. Additionally, it’s much easier to communicate with them via email. Fortunately, it appears that their email customer support team speaks English. Back to the chief complaint, if you hypothetically were to lose your job and lose your insurance, they will discharge you as a patient almost immediately. Apparently that is their only way to address what is obviously a traumatic experience for most people. And while it’s probably reasonable to pursue some sort of closing of the chart or discharging of a patient after an extended period of time - this organization will do so in a matter of days. Don’t ever forget that healthcare providers are businesses first, they may pretend to care about you and your problems and your health but at the end of the day the bottom line is all that matters to these people. You are a number on a spreadsheet. You are a line on their P&L, Talkiatry makes that very very clear. TLDR; they’ll cancel your appointment day of multiple times, if you cancel because you’re waiting for new insurance cards to arrive in the mail they will ‘discharge you as a patient’ immediately.

Just look at Talkiatry’s reviews on Better Business Bureau’s website. Predatory and disturbing billing practices. I personally could only get them to stop harassing me 12 months after my appointment (they were trying to double bill my insurer and myself, which is a CRIME) by threatening court. Note to my future self and others - if a mental health provider requires you to accept their terms and conditions online which state, “you cannot bring class action claims”… seek services from literally anyone else! Looks like they deleted their Google page, probably due to too many negative reviews. I would love to see if any person on here has actually paid “$30 per visit” as they advertise on their website? I had to pay $460 for one appointment (and I have major insurance provider specifically listed as “accepted insurers” on their website) - more false advertising.

My first session was over $400 for an hour with a psychiatrist. My second session was $300 for 30 minutes and merely for med management. Why? My psych was great and actually cared, but Talkiatry is prohibitively expensive. Go somewhere else.

I could not agree more with the other comments regarding the questionable billing practices of Talkiatry. They reprocess bills several months after an initial bills are paid, claiming that insurance company did not properly handle the claim. This results in you having to pay significant amounts more than the initial bill. The overall process is designed to confuse individuals as this company cannot fully explain why we receive bills for appointments that were already paid for. As others have noted, they have outsourced their customer service and do not allow you to speak with billing specialists. You are forced to leave a message with a low level customer service representative who will then forward your request to a specialist who may or may not return your call within 48 hours. I have asked for specialists to return my call, only to receive a basic email, from a supposed specialist, which fails to address my specific issues and concerns. To any Talkiatry representative reading this, do not insult me by replying to this comment asking me to contact your “hello@” email. That email address is one of the major problems with your company as there is no one competent nor capable on the receiving end. Complaints with any and all appropriate government agencies will be notified of these questionable billing practices.

After mucking thru all of their not user friendly software, setting up a patient portal that is difficult to log into, and then waiting several weeks for an appointment after their advertisement said doctors available immediately, I logged in ten minutes early for my virtual appointment. There ended up being more questionnaires. I had to call because on one page it would not allow me to continue into my appointment. So I ended up being 7 minutes late, but finally got into the virtual waiting room, awaiting the doctor. After a half hour of waiting in the virtual waiting room, I called Talkiatry again, asking where my doctor was. They contacted the doctor and then told me that they needed to reschedule. I wouldn’t be able to get an appointment for another week. Truly a disappointment. I just told them to cancel my account with them. And just to update, now I just received a bill for $100 for sitting in a waiting room for 30 minutes. If I am charged this, then why was the doctor not there when I arrived the 7 minutes late? Why didn’t the Talkiaty operator notify the doctor I was trying to log in? The stupid response below just confirms this company is not worth the effort. And now I am getting an email saying “ If we don’t hear from you, the company may not be able to recognize your review as genuine.” So they are trying to disclaim me as a patient. That would be fine, as long as they disclaim any payment that I should make to them. To their credit, they reviewed my case and have have dropped any charges today.
