True Stories about S.
On paper - a fantastic idea. An automated and effective way to collect songwriting royalties everyone can use. Right? In reality - They provide no service that justifies their commission. At all. For starters - I don't believe they collect any royalties my PRO wouldn't already collect. In terms of service - They are so understaffed and staffed so overwhelmingly by interns that every time their largely automated system requires human intervention, the human intervention just messes it up. The system works ok until writers or publishing arrangements change and then no-one at Songtrust has the capability to effectively manage data, respond to communication or do anything other than misread emails months after they're sent and send bad data all around the world creating huge logjams and royalty bottlenecks and then never taking responsibility for the mess they create. A disaster. Don't get me started on their tax forms. It is UTTERLY IMPOSSIBLE to submit foreign tax IDs in a format their system will accept and support is NOT AVAILABLE for issues submitting tax IDs. Almost like it's a convenient way for them to not have to make payments. A potentially good idea terribly executed with absolutely no care for the customer. Run a mile. This is my review as a multi-year songtrust user. I really gave them all the benefit of the doubt.

Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback on your experience with Songtrust. I sincerely apologize for any frustration and inconvenience you’ve encountered during your time with us. Your input is invaluable to us as we strive to improve our services so I'll be passing your concerns along to each of our relevant teams. When it comes to the royalties we collect, once your songs are actively accruing royalties, we send out your song registrations to your home PRO as well as at other societies (including mechanical societies) where your music is earning. Your PRO would only be actively collecting and paying out performance royalties generated within the country or territory where it is located. You can learn more about the royalties we collect that your PRO would not be on our blog (https://blog.songtrust.com/royalties-you-are-missing-even-with-a-pro). While internal process changes, song conflicts, and inaccurate song data can certainly interrupt this process and cause delays, we hope you'll give us the opportunity to investigate further for you and make this right. While I'm unable to locate your account details, feel free to send an email to [email protected] and then let us know here in the comments so that we can flag to our Client Services team and help get this resolved and improve your experience with us. Thank you again.

Worst customer support yet. The 15% is a big hit. Fails to register songs quickly. When you want to leave them they don't respond and I've been waiting for months on my letter of release.
Response from SongtrustJun 4, 2024
Hi Nikos, and thank you for sharing your feedback with us. I'm sorry to hear that your experience with Songtrust was less than ideal. Our team is aware of the support delays and is working hard to improve overall response time as well as the user experience. When it comes to the song registration process, while we can’t control individual society timelines, our teams work diligently on the back end to ensure that song data is accurate and set up to move through the publishing landscape as smoothly as possible. Should you decide to use Songtrust again in the future, reach out to our team at [email protected] and we'd be more than happy to reinstate your account.

I just released my album on the 4th of July, 2023, registered my songs June 5th, 2023. Please reply to my ticket for getting my track listed at my PRO. I am wondering if I am missing out on any royalties if it's not registered yet (or can you collect retroactively?) Update: Songs registered within about a month and a half (07/19/23). I'm impressed with their support- it is great 👍 I'm a small artist starting out essentially. Thank you

Hi Tyler and thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. Since the time of this review I can see that your works have since been registered at your home PRO. In general, once songs reach royalty activity thresholds, the song registration process can take up to a year before they're fully registered, depending on each societies' timelines. That said, should you have any questions or concerns in the future, don't hesitate to reach out to our Client Services Team at [email protected]! Thanks again.
