Honestly after a few years of using Songtrust. Here are my honest takes (and I really wish someone from Songtrust would reach out to me to help) - They are actually good at collecting royalties and they do get payments from international sources like they said - The interface is very easy to use - Royalty statements are clear and easy to read - Quarterly payments are reliable Here is where the problems have been for me: - CUSTOMER SERVICE: I have customer support tickets that sometimes don't get answered for 3-6 months, and even when they do... the issues never get fixed. - I submitted things to be amended / edited over a year ago, and they told me it will take a couple of Quarters to reflect the changes made... Still none of the changes are showing up on the MLC or on BMI (also they did not send me proof or confirmation to these changes being submitted) - They don't track or add recordings to The MLC (this has been a big problem for me) , for instance I have a title that has multiple remixes by different remixers... they never added those recordings to the MLC. some of these songs/titles have much more streams and radio plays than what is being reported on the statement. - YouTube claims has been weak - Missing Metadata is an issue. Like seriously a lot of the changes I want is simply to add ISWC, fix Alternate titles , etc.... and they have not been able to deliver. My highest paying tracks are ones that I registered MYSELF on BMI , and then registered them on SONGTRUST once the ISWC is issued, all alternate titles and performers are displayed correctly. (full disclosure I WAS ADVISED BY SONGTRUST NOT TO DO THIS, but those titles have made me the most money, and the reporting has been the best by far on them) - 2nd biggest issue: there seems to be only one person that keeps receiving my tickets. She has been nice, but I can tell the support staff are overwhelmed. Perhaps they can refer my cases and tickets to someone that I can actually speak who is senior, or from Downtown Music Publishing - Basically my final and most important take: We artists and songwriters need to focus on the music making and not the admin stuff. Songtrust has a great service, but bad customer service. If they really fix that and be more efficient at that and faster they would have the best service. I hope I receive a nice response for them where they actually help me fix all this stuff

The registration process looked simple and professional, but after completing all the steps and linking my BMI information, none of my songs have been processed or approved yet. It has been weeks with no update or response to my emails. The platform feels reliable in design but extremely slow in execution.

Hi Tugay, thank you for taking the time to leave this review. We understand your desire for updates and appreciate you bringing this to our attention. You can view the status of your songs by going to the "songs" page in your account. If you hover over the icon by "Monitoring" you can view more details about each song individually and what phase it is in during the registration process. Your songs are currently in the 'Monitoring' phase. This is a crucial step of the song journey when our technology uses the ISRC information you provided to actively track your songs' performance on a weekly basis and alert our team immediately when earnings are ready for collection in various territories. We want to assure you that your request has been assigned to one of our dedicated Client Services team members. They'll be in touch directly to answer any specific questions you may have about this song status. Thanks again for your feedback and for trusting Songtrust with your publishing.

I haven’t received my first payment from any of my music in regards to Songtrust, so I can’t fully say that I’m satisfied with the experience yet.
Response from SongtrustApr 17, 2026
Hi Kevin! We completely understand that you're eager to receive your first royalty payment from us. It's important to note that collection societies often have their own minimum stream and payout thresholds and the song registration process takes time, so it may take a bit for streams to translate into processed payments. Your songs are currently in the Monitoring status, which means our team is monitoring your works for royalty activity ahead of sending them for registration at the societies around the world where they may earn. The best way to reach payout thresholds quicker is to add more songs from your catalog to your Songtrust account (if you have them) and proactively market your songs that have been released! We’re here to help you through the process, so if you have any questions about the payout timeline, please feel free to reach out to our team at [email protected].

In researching these providers, Songtrust had a reputation for poor customer service and particularly response times. I can confirm this is a still a problem. Took three weeks to respond to an inquiry, and even then, it didn't answer the question. If I recall, you can't even ask a question unless you already sign up. It took a while to enter my songs once I did sign up as an ISWC question response was not helpful. They did send this survey request quickly and often, so here you go. Providers in this space are limited, so my hope they do a better job in execution.

Hi George, thank you for the honest and thoughtful feedback. Three weeks to respond is exactly the kind of experience we don't want any of our clients to have, let alone a new client trying to get their first song registered. Improving our response times and the quality of our answers is something we've actively been working on, so we hope to exceed your expectations the next time you reach out to us. We've since been in touch and hope we were able to get you properly sorted. If you run into any other issues, please reach back out at [email protected]. We'd love the chance to do better by you.

Its hard to register my songs. there should be a registry of every song registered by others. Im relying on my ascap for my splits and writers information. Just hasnt been my favorite website thus far.

Thanks for sharing your experience, Kyle! Sorry to hear you had trouble registering your songs. Your home society, like ASCAP, is usually the best source for checking which songs are already registered. If you need any further assistance, feel free to reach out to our Support team—we’re happy to help as best we can!

there’s no 1 to communicate with by phone or anyone to talk to directly about your account or things concerning your account My express payments was approved never received any money re filled out form now it says not approved I made well over 500$ I’ve never had to go through this

Hi Detorius, thank you for sharing your experience — we're sorry to hear about the frustration you had with your Express Royalty Payment. We understand how alarming it can be to see an approved payment change status without explanation, particularly when timely answers are hard to come by. While we don't offer phone support, we recognize that for payment-related matters, quick and clear communication is essential. The technical issue that caused the payment status change has since been resolved, and we've continued working to improve how we handle time-sensitive situations like this. We appreciate your patience and your continued trust in Songtrust. If anything comes up in the future, our Support team is always here and ready to help.
