The BBB needs to do something about the lie this company perpetrates in it's advertising. In all of their ads they make a point of saying, "This California-Made mask supports the livelihood of 70+ workers..." in not only one but several places prominently in the ads. I even found the company on a website that listed masks made by US companies. Not until the promised 15-20 day processing became 6 weeks did they fess up and say it was because the masks were held up in China. How is this not false advertising? I even emailed them about it and they said that the masks were 'designed' in San Francisco but manufactured in China. How is that not lying? Don't trust this company. Who knows what other lies they are telling. Update after Vida response: I entered a complaint on the BBB site for the issues above. Interestingly enough (or not), I was by far not the only one complaining about the false advertising about 'made in California'. How you can respond saying you are fully transparent is a joke and we all can see it clearly in your advertising and website. Don't hide behind some regional social impact claims, even if there is any truth to them.
Response from VIDAJun 12, 2020
Hi Monica, Thank you for your post. Our original mask (https://shopvida.com/products/protective-mask) was and is still produced in China. We try to be as transparent as possible as to where each product is produced. In fact, we sponsor different social impact programs that are specific to each region, so this transparency is vital to what we do as a company. If we have failed to be clear somewhere, please let me know, so that we can correct any errors. We just recently launched masks made in California (https://shopvida.com/products/face-mask-usa and https://shopvida.com/products/cloth-mask-la-sf). It took us a bit longer than we would have wanted due to shelter-in-place guidance in many communities around the country. VIDA itself is based in San Francisco. Last, our shipping times indeed were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly in April and May. That said, I would love to discuss any issues you are experiencing now in more detail and see that you receive the rapid response you deserve. Can you please contact me at [email protected] so that myself or another team member can assist right away? Best, Peter // VIDA
