Delivery service from Safeway (for which they charge $100/year) is absolutely unreliable. Sometimes items are not delivered or delivered in the middle of night, so they go bad by the time you unload them. Support is saying sorry, but doing nothing.

Safeway lower queen Anne in Seattle Washington is disgusting. I have observed homeless people spitting in the soup, opening products and licking ice cream and putting the lid back on, dogs licking the meat packages, and the employees are all rude, alcoholics and it's filthy, I mean truly dirty. Needles in the bathrooms, and the parking garage smells like a sewer. They also have a girl that works as a merchandise manager that has a site for a sex worker I think her name is Lynn. The Starbucks manager is rude un professional and steals merchandise, as well as only hires illegal Mexican immigrants. The near manager Constantine is a thief, and lazy and has the nerve to want to be a assistant manager. Safeway lower queen Anne needs to be shut down. It's disgusting.

I've been to both South Side Edm and St Albert locations. Both were terrible. Their deli food tastes horrible, like it is old or contaminated. I frequently see expired products on the shelves. One time in St Albert I got a pre-made sandwich, a bacon and swiss on ciabatta. The bacon was literally RAW, so I threw it out. I also tried the egg salad sandwich and there are chunks of egg shell in it that inevitably hurt your teeth when you're chomping down, not expecting anything solid or grainy. I've seen expired products on the shelves and in the deli section, and the prices are very high for what they offer. A simple ham and cheese sandwich made with pre-cut meat and pre-sliced cheese is $5. You can make 3 of those at home for that price. The St Albert location also temporarily had some local brand of hot sauce for sale, and one of the bottles I got had mold in it and it was fermented to the point it exploded when I opened it. Quality control is low and if they leave expired things on the shelves, they aren't running things properly. Overall terrible experience and I'll start all of my shopping at Freshco instead.

as I've used my store on Broadway in Walnut Creek CA, I see a continual discontinuation of some of my favorite items, usually products that are from smaller manufacturers. The store shelves are then filled with all the awful products of the large manufacturers. For example, no more Maille cornichons. Everything else is vlasic! For pete's sake. No more nature's bakery but a ton of nutrigrain and nature valley. And what is up with all that Boar's head products - an inferior product that makes my eczema break out! Why do they offer all that alternative milk, fresh and not, with all that sugar when it is obvious that the unsweetened is constantly out of stock? It is harder and harder to justify going to Safeway, with all the unimaginative product selection from companies that are only doing it for the dollar and not for quality and health.

I have ordered a lot of cakes from the Safeway bakery over the years but this is the first time I have done a review - the service was THAT good! Overall, the cakes I have ordered/bought from Safeway have been very tasty but the 5 stars in this review is specifically for the Bakery Dept at the Safeway on Howe Ave/Fair Oaks in the Sacramento area. My boss wanted a double layer German Chocolate cake with the coconut icing on top, around the sides AND in the middle. I was told that this was not how Safeway usually does their German Chocolate cakes but that they would do what they could (because the coconut icing is so thick/heavy it might not work around the sides). I was prepared to get a cake done the "usual" way but to my surprise, they were able to make the cake EXACTLY like I asked and they even decorated it with chocolate buttercream flowers on top which made it even better! My boss was so happy! Thank you Safeway Bakery Team in Sacramento - you rock!

I always get good deals at Safeway. The meat department is excellent with fresh cut steaks daily. Same with their produce too. I will continue to shop there

The Safeway online ordering app for home delivery finally got it right. As many others have in the current pandemic, I've shifted to home delivery. My experiences with the grocery chains in my region have been unsatisfactory. My major complaint is really poor communication. For me, this translates to the online forms not allowing me to set up a delivery with exceptions, options, and instructions. Mostly, if an item is not available, most chains offer a substitution option but little else. Safeway figured this out. They offer a "select all" feature with an "accept substitute same size", "accept substitute different size" or "don't accept substitutes". A very important feature. Overall the online app provides a simple and logical flow that is intuitive and that allows you to go back and correct. I think the chains in my region need to reflect on how safeway does it. Also, their fees for delivery are the least costly in my area and I still get my member discounts! Really, if shopping is not your thing, this process is a keeper even when the pandemic resides.

Not happy with the online app. I try scanning for the sale price and it doesn’t work. The checker said “we don’t have good Wi-Fi in the stores.” So basically I have to fight for the sale price and hold up the line. Why not just go back to the phone number? With prices so high we don’t need to be scammed. Give the sale price automatically!!! Won’t be shopping at Safeway anymore. Sick of the scam.
