Tried to cancel order but...

I placed an order on a Sunday night and wanted to cancel it and oder additional items to get free shipping. Since it was not during business hours I emailed them asking to cancel. They are on the east cost and I am in the Midwest (2 hour difference) so I planned on calling them first thing in the morning to be sure it was cancelled. Unfortunately they sent me an email at 8:11am EST saying my order had shipped. Since their business hours were 8-5pm est. that meant I had only 11 minutes to cancel over the phone. Remember I emailed them as well. It was highly unlikely that my order actually left the building, so I still tried to cancel but no joy. They were polite but in no way helpful. I believe this to be bad business practice.

Hello Michael, We are sorry you feel this way as 2 of our agents tried to explain that an online worldwide web store processing thousands of orders can't really stop their operations once the package is in the pipeline, customer service business hours are different than our operations which is a 24 hrs operation model in order to get all orders out in timely manner . We do try whenever possible to intercept packages depending at what stage it is in the operation queue, but at time it is just not possible to do so, both of the agents offered you to refuse or return the package upon arrival in order to get a refund upon receiving. We also confirmed to you that the agent was able to intercept the package with UPS and is having it returned to our facility, we have already refunded your Paypal account in full. Robotshop agents do everything in their power to help customers and they certainly did in this case. We hope to see you soon at Robotshop.com Have a lovely day!
