Watch out ordering here if you are a school or use purchase orders
Watch out ordering here if you are a school or use purchase orders. I am a teacher, and I teach mechatronics and robotic engineering. I have been waiting to write to you about my experience with this order. When I originally put the bid together, I based my original plan on Robot Shop's part numbers, since there are not many companies like yours. Our purchasing department kicked it back and had to redo it with part descriptions. They did not want to have any of Robotshop's part numbers in the order, as it would show bias to your company. Despite my complaints, I understood what the problem was and know they are not allowed to do it any other way legally. It was very time consuming, but I was able to get it done with the help from others in the office, thereby making the bid fair for all companies. I have found that ordering things at schools is not as easy as how we did it in private industry, having owned my own business for 30 years; this is my second career. However, I was disappointed that I had to call Robotshop to inform sales that the bid date was almost upon us, and your company had not bid yet. Having come from a business environment, I was flabbergasted that Robotshop did not jump on a $24,000 order and I had to call to get things going. Wow! Things went from bad to worst after that and the wording for the terms made it difficult for our school to work with. Most schools would have trouble with the terms. All causing bad feelings, and making it impossible for me to order from Robotshop for another year. The crazy thing is, Robotshop would have been paid just as fast, with no hard feelings, without making it impossible to order again soon, and without making everyone sit on the edge of our seats, and wheels a spinning. My feelings are this; I love Robotshop and all the things the company has to offer. However, my hands are now tied, and I now have to find another company to give my next $24,000 order to, which is ridiculous. All I can figure is Robotshop is independently wealthy, but I don't know. The outcome of whoever was so inflexible at Robotshop is that you shot yourself in the proverbial foot. The school I work for is very reputable, and the hoops we had to jump through should have been saved for a questionable business. Sorry to break the news to you, my order last year was pleasant and everyone was cordial and helpful, even though it was a smaller order, but an all together better experience. Thanks for getting the parts to me, my class is happily working on their capstone projects using parts from Robotshop, this year anyway. I hope after my one year suspension from ordering from Robotshop I can order again, but the experience was not a good one. I send this critique with the utmost respect. Please send the remaining parts as soon as you can. Thanks for everything.
