Book elsewhere- not to be trusted with your money!

We booked through booking.com a car from the car rental company United at Tangier airport but our flight was delayed and it took us over an hour to get through passport control so by the time we were finally able to find the car section outside on the car park that belonged to United (no signs anywhere) we were told we are too late to pick up our car and the rented car is no longer available but we wouldn't get the money back either. They suggested we pay extra and they give us a different car but we didn't trust them at that point and decided to find a different car rental company, which was a nightmare as no cars were available at the airport. Booking.com is not responsible and referred us to rentalcars.com which is the biggest scam. Their response: "We're sorry to hear you weren't able to pick up your hire car. United Car Rental did have the car ready for you at the time you wanted. Unfortunately, because we didn't know that you weren’t going to pick the car up, we cannot give you a refund. The Ts&Cs for every car on our site explain that there are no refunds for cancelling after the arranged pick-up time. You will also find a link to your booking's Ts&Cs on your voucher. We’re sorry you couldn’t enjoy your rental this time, and we do hope that your experience hasn’t put you off." And any follow up email gets no respones. AVOID!!

Do not use. Find alternative. We paid in full, arrived late for pick up and they refused to release car. Kept our money - offered no refund.

Complained to Rentalcars.com that their supplier OK Rent a car in Frankfurt refused booking since they claimed that deposit could not be blocked over our Visa credit card! Airport agent forced my wife to pay an additional insurance (over CC) costing €120 to accept voucher even though booking included full insurance coverage. Rentalcars's reaction...none

Be careful - it can be extremely costly! One tip! Ensure that the main driver / main booking name on Rentalcars.com has a credit card and not just a debit card. It can not be changed later on. To my surprice (Noleggiare - Car Rental Partner to Rentalcars.com) declines your debit card for the required deposit payment upon delivery. Which also means that the rental car will not be delivered to you. I called Rentalcars and asked them to simply change the main name to my girlfriends as she has a credit card. They told me have to cancel the whole booking and do a new one in her name. The price doubled so had to pay an extra amount of 1500 euroes as the original booking was done 5 months ago. I can't do anything. I just have to pay or cancel my 3 weeks trip. A great way to start my honeymoon.
