My £86 booking turned into £300 when I went to collect the car because my credit card used my initials rather than first name. There were three others with the same issue at the desk when I arrived so not an isolated issue. Felts like a scam and rentalcars.com were unwilling to help. Avoid

HIDDEN COSTS on every corner. If you don’t buy their overpriced insurance, you’re even forced to wash the car yourself before returning it – otherwise, they charge you extra. No one asked us where we were going or mentioned anything about crossing borders. The contract clearly states that crossing into Spain is allowed (Faro to Spain is only 50 km!). Yet we suddenly received an email accusing us of “unauthorized border crossing” and they started charging us €25 PER DAY! Their online call center was completely useless and couldn’t resolve anything, and the staff at the return desk were just as unhelpful. ⚠️ AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS! ⚠️

We got our deposit stolen by a car rental company in Bulgaria. Booked through rentalcars.com. We received no help from rentalcars.com. Will not book again through this site and will discourage everyone from making this mistake.

🚨 Warning: Misleading Pricing on Rentalcars.com 🚨 I booked a car through Rentalcars.com because they advertise “No Hidden Costs.” That couldn't be further from the truth. The price I ended up paying was more than THREE TIMES the amount they originally advertised. The extra charges weren’t clearly explained during booking — they only showed up later or when picking up the car. So much for transparency. If you're booking through them, be very careful. Vi har jagat att få tillbaka depositionen över 1månad, och går över booking.com som anlitar rentalcars. Men där är man ”uppriktigt sagt ledsen över din situation”, sen händer ingenting. Utan frågor om andra bokningar som gjorts utan någon relevans till bilhyrningen..så mitt omdöme är alldeles för högt. Jag anser att booking.com är lika urusla som anlitar Oseriösa företag. Ich warne dringend davor über Rentalcars zu buchen, bzw. diesem Unternehmen eine E-Mail-Anschrift zur Verfügung zu stellen. Die Folge ist eine unerwünschte Flut von Newslettern, wobei Abmeldungen vom Newsletter einfach ignoriert werden und die unerwünschte E-Mail-Flut weitergeht.

If I could give -5* I would. AVOID THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM! THEY DON'T SPEAK ENGLISH, THEIR EMAILS ARE GIBBERISH, THEY CANCELLED LESS THAN 24 HOURS BEFORE PICK UP AND REFUSE TO REFUND EVERSINCE. I am initiating a fraud investigation on them as the emails they are sending scream of a scam. Read their last email to me here: "We totally understand your situation and keep asking for a refund back. from a From a service that you didn't receive. Even. I'm a customer by the end of the day, so. I can't relate what you feel. I need you to be assured about that. The request has been sent already on the 26th of July. For this reservation to be fully refunded with 117.43 GBP. And it should be. Sent back to the same card you made the payment with within five to seven working days. We will be doing our best to rectify this. And help you to get a better experience with us. I truly thank you for your patience and cooperation with us.

It was a waste money, as we needed to pay the whole amount again for the car when we wanted to hand it over. When we opened a case at a customer service they just sent an automatic email "your case under review" and nothing happened in a month. Terrible. Never again.
