okay so context: i was with another provider (won't name them right here but ill be writing a more detailed review about that disaster soon on trustpilot so follow me if you're interested in that saga) for like a year, everything was whatever until one day my VPS with them went down entirely and they went MIA. opened a ticket. then another one. then another. absolutely nothing back from them. we're talking over a week of just silence.
at this point i'm scrambling because i can't just sit there with everything offline waiting for them to maybe respond eventually. I started looking around for alternatives and racknerd kept popping up. honestly racknerd's pricing was even better than that other provider, but i figured whatever, let me at least ask some questions first. sent in a ticket expecting the usual multi-day wait.
got a response from racknerd in under 10 minutes (6 minutes to be exact). actually looked at the timstamps and calculated that, because i was shocked. for context, I work in business development so i get how the economics work on budget hosting - you can't really run proper support on $1/month VPS margins. but racknerd seems to have figured out the balance somehow, probably mixing enterprise customers/margins with the promo deals to actually staff their operation properly.
been here a few weeks now and in this short period of time, in my tickets I dealt with like 6 or 7 different support agents, all pretty responsive and helpful. it's actual reasonable turnaround times, which honestly feels like luxury after where i came from.
anyway, solid so far. ill update this review from time to time with updates as I do plan to order a few more VPS in the coming months.

Does exactly what it says on the tin
I've been with RackNerd for a few years now and honestly, it works. You get what they advertise. The specs are accurate, uptime is solid, and support actually responds when you need them.
Now when I say "support" I mean support according to what you're actually paying for. If you buy an unmanaged VPS and then expect them to troubleshoot your WordPress plugins or fix your broken Apache config, that's on you. There VPS services are unmanaged servers, meaning the provider helps maintain the hardware and network stuff on their end, which is exactly what they should be doing. If you need someone to hold your hand through software configuration, you're looking for a different type of service and shouldn't be on a cheap unmanaged VPS plan.
Scrolling through some of these negative reviews on here, at least half of them are people complaining about basic VPS stuff that anyone with Linux experience would understand is their own responsibility. 100% a skill issue. The other half (to me) read like AI generated spam, you can tell because they all follow the same weird pattern and use the same generic phrases (and lack of details/specifics)..
For the price point, you're getting a solid service. My VPS services runs fine, no surprise issues, and the network has been stable. That's really all there is to it.
By the way, nobody asked me to write this, I just figured its time and only fair to write about my actual experience, as I just happened to order another VPS service with them a few minutes ago.

I used to love racknerd for the pricing…
I used to love racknerd for the pricing and simplicity, untill the server hangs after trying to copy files to another folder, and then a reboot through racknerds UI makes the server inaccessible and support says I have to reset the server including all data in order for it to work again. Never again

Hello,
We went through tickets received today and don't see an experience matching what you're describing here. Your name "Cc" on Trustpilot also makes it difficult for us to associate this review with an actual ticket or account.
You mentioned the server became inaccessible after a reboot, but all VPS customers have full access to the HTML5 VNC console via the SolusVM control panel, which allows you to see exactly what's happening during boot, even if network access is down or was misconfigured on the OS side. Did you try using VNC to see what error the server was throwing? There's also rescue mode available directly in your SolusVM control panel, which can help retrieve data and/or fix any misconfigurations on the OS side without having to reinstall. Here is a video on how to boot your VPS to rescue mode: https://youtu.be/oO61_EXiTOU

What's wrong with RackNerd's network stability? Am I the only one experiencing these problems?
My Frustrating (and Useless) Experience with RackNerd: A Story of False Promises and Even Worse Service
I want to share my ongoing nightmare with RackNerd, in the hopes that no one else has to go through this same helpless cycle of frustration.
It all started with the abysmal network performance. The packet loss on my server's IP was consistently so high—often making it completely unusable for basic tasks. Websites timed out, connections dropped constantly, and any real work became impossible. I felt stuck with a product that simply didn't function as advertised.
Naturally, I reached out to support, hoping for a solution or, as a last resort, a refund. What I got instead was a brick wall of deflection. The support agent repeatedly insisted the problem was on my end, specifically with my local Internet Service Provider (ISP). They suggested it was my network at fault. However, I conducted tests from different networks and locations, and friends using other ISPs reported the same issues connecting to my server. The problem was clearly with RackNerd's infrastructure, not mine.
After multiple tickets and a lot of back-and-forth, I finally managed to push for a change—or so I thought. They "generously" offered to replace the problematic IP address. I was hopeful, if a little skeptical.
That hope was shattered in minutes. They assigned me a new IP that was even worse. This one wasn't just suffering from high packet loss; it was practically dead on arrival, rendering the server completely inaccessible. It felt like a cruel joke. They didn't fix the problem; they gave me a symbolic "solution" that amplified it.
Now, I'm left with a service I cannot use, trapped because a refund is apparently not an option, and stuck with a support narrative that refuses to acknowledge their own responsibility. I feel utterly powerless as a customer. I paid for a functional virtual server, but what I received was endless excuses and a service that has only degraded further through their "help."
This isn't just poor performance; it's a complete failure of customer support and technical competence. Consider this a serious warning before you trust them with your projects or business.

Hello -- we attempted to locate an account under your name but wasn't able to find one, and we're not currently aware of any widespread network issues across our infrastructure. The details in your review are quite generalized, which makes it difficult to investigate without more specifics.
If this review was intended for RackNerd and was not created under our Trustpilot profile by mistake, we would be more than happy to look into what happened. Could you please reach out to us at bizdev[@]racknerd[.]com with any relevant ticket IDs or account details? This would help us pull up the specifics of your case and understand what actually occurred. We're happy to investigate further.

Anthony Fye is the man! :)
The support I received from Anthony Fye was really helpful. He helped me a lot with the plan upgrade. It was not an easy plan to upgrade because sometimes bureaucracy in business is not helpful for clients, but he really made my life easier. Five-star support from him!

Affordable VPS, but unreliable for production websites
I have used RackNerd unmanaged VPS services for over one year in the past and again for more than three months recently. During this time, I have experienced unexpected outages and periods of slowness. While some issues I raised were resolved, others remained unresolved.
Starting on 15th December 2025, my website began going offline unexpectedly. Before this date, the same setup had been running without issues. After the outages started, I often had to manually restart the server from the RackNerd control panel to restore service.
When I contacted support, I was informed several times that software-related issues are not supported. I explained that the configuration had been stable before 15th December and that the issues only started afterward. However, the responses remained largely the same, and the situation was not fully investigated from my perspective.
In terms of performance:
I previously used a 4-core, 3GB RAM VPS on Ubuntu, where the control panel alone could reach 100% resource usage.
I later switched to AlmaLinux, which is generally considered lighter than Ubuntu.
On a 2-core, 2GB RAM VPS with AlmaLinux, I am still experiencing high resource usage with minimal activity.
(New Update)
After reinstalling AlmaLinux as suggested by support, the issue continues, and I am now also experiencing unexpected SSH disconnections.
Based on my experience, I found the service unstable for hosting live websites that require consistent uptime.
⭐ I will give three stars for affordability and for those people/developers who are testing websites.

Hi Martin -- Thank You for allowing us the opportunity to be your provider for over a year. I'm sorry to hear that your experience wasn't what it should be. RackNerd is an Inc. 5000 company, recognized for excellence multiple years in a row, and we serve everyone from hobbyists to startups to enterprise companies. We're quite known for providing services that grant performance at all times, which is how we've built our reputation in this industry.
In regards to your website going offline and requiring manual restarts, this does sound like a software-related issue within your environment, as our nodes themselves remain online and operational. If the node or virtualization layer were experiencing issues, you wouldn't be able to simply restart your VM to restore service -- the problem would persist regardless. The fact that a restart resolves it temporarily, points to something within your VPS configuration or the software stack you're running.
It's also important to note that our KVM VPS by default are unmanaged, and we do not maintain client environments. When connectivity or performance issues are isolated to a single VM (while the node and other VMs remain stable), this typically indicates a configuration issue within that specific software stack or environment. Without access to your VM or details about what's running, there's limited troubleshooting that can be done from our end beyond confirming node health and network connectivity.
100% resource usage with just a control panel running suggests something within your software stack may be misconfigured or resource-intensive. To help point you towards the right direction, you may consider using the "top -c" command in SSH, to identify which process is using the most CPU. Or download/run "htop" for a more detailed overview. The "ps aux" command is useful too, to get a full picture understanding of all the processes running in your server. Our nodes are not oversold, and customers routinely run production workloads without these symptoms, so identifying what's consuming your resources should help narrow this down.
If you'd like to discuss further, feel free to reach out to bizdev[@]racknerd[.]com and we can go from there -- happy to offer more guidance or point you in the right direction if you're still stuck.
