mislading borderline fraud
I visited PlushCare’s website to schedule an appointment regarding weight-loss medication. The site stated that the consultation would be a $30 copay with insurance, plus a free trial membership ($19.99/month afterward). Based on this information, I proceeded to schedule a same-day appointment. The appointment lasted no more than 10 minutes, and I was informed that I would need bloodwork and a follow-up appointment before possibly receiving a prescription. At that point, I decided it would be more practical to follow up in person with my primary care provider. Immediately after the appointment, I was charged $105 twice (total $210) instead of the advertised $30 copay. When I contacted customer service, I was told that the appointment cost $250 and that I needed to submit it through insurance — information that was not clearly disclosed at any point while signing up, scheduling, or meeting with the provider. I also saw that patients without insurance pay approximately $129, so being charged more than that while using insurance is extremely concerning. This experience felt misleading and non-transparent, and I would not have scheduled the appointment had accurate pricing been clearly presented.
