After 2 visits to Optum Urgent care for Bronchitis, I am still not feeling well. I have a terrible cough that never ends. No sleep. Can't go to work. When I sent a message to the patient portal asking if there were anything else I could do, Clarissa answered and merely reiterated what I had been prescribed as if I were an imbecile who can't read or follow instructions. That's it??

Optum Greater Bay Area Medical group for HMO under Healthnet is the WORST! They dont deserve any stars! Before it was Physicians Medical Group(PMG) which was not that great but at least a few of the reps know what they are talking about. It is impossible to get a hold of Optum rep who knows what they are doing. Some talked like they're drunk, sleepy or really not excited to do their job. I am going thru a dispute right know with Optum because their new system is telling my provider NO Authorization needed. This creates a problem because I have a Healthnet POS which is a hybrid insurance that has HMO and PPO. In order to be approved with NO out of pocket coinsurance under the HMO plan, prior authorizations need to go thru Optum with an authorization #. With their new online portal where providers input the CPT codes for service like surgery and it gives a No authorization needed, the provider then submit the claim to Healthnet in my case, it triggered it to be paid under my PPO plan causing me a hefty coinsurance. I spent several hours on the phone with Optum who transferred me to at least 5 agents that can't even tell what's going on. They can't even get thru their Utilization Claims management department and this is within their network so how do they expect me or Healthnet to connect with an agent for a dispute. I have an ongoing dispute with them and have filed an appeal/grievance and a consumer complaint with the California Dept of Managed Health Care to investigate. They are the WORST medical group!

Shady billing practices. Billing support unresponsive to assisting in updating billing information. Was unable to have error fixed and instead, had bill sent to collectors.

My former provider New West Physicians became Optum in 2025. I've had many free Medicare wellness exams in the past. During my 2026 visit I was charged for the visit. There was no difference in this visit that those previous visits, nothing was discussed that might trigger additional charges. I asked them several times to explain why I was charged for my visit and they never provided a suitable explanation. They finally turned my billing over to a collection agency and I finally paid the bill. Is this how you want to be treated by your healthcare provider.

I have been a patient at the same clinic for many years. Ever since Optum took over in 2019, the quality of care and my overall experience have deteriorated dramatically. My longtime physician left, several other doctors retired, and getting an appointment has become nearly impossible. I established care with a new primary care physician, yet I've only been able to see her twice in the past two or three years. Now that I'm retired and on Medicare with a Medicare Supplement plan that is not through United Healthcare (Optum's parent company), I've been pushed to the bottom of the line. I can't get an appointment with my own primary care physician—or with any other doctor in the practice. This is outrageous! United Healthcare/ Optum are exclusively focused on maximizing profits rather than ensuring patients receive medical care and honoring the principles of the Hippocratic Oath. I strongly advise everyone to avoid Optum.

They have the worst customer serviiice. I think most of them are not trained. They just dont have common sense.

A virtual healthcare company who's systems wont let you actually use the prescriptions you paid for. This place is a scam. Im having asthma problems and they just took my money and will not provide the prescription. They should not be in business. The pharmacist was rude as well. This plave is a joke. DO NOT BUY THEIR SERVICE FOR VIRTUAL HEALTH. ITS A SCAM AND THEY JUST TAKE YOUR MONEY.
