I ordered a knotty adler door from Nicks. The door came on time, however, on the top of the trim there was a large burnt out knot. Right on the inner edge of the trim and the actual door, thus breaking the seam and looking very unaesthetic, not to mention that if I need to sand this door: I will probably cut my hand when it slips in the hole. I sent them lots of pictures that clearly showed this. Contacted Customer Service and I was promptly told that the hole on the trim is not viewed by the company as an issue. They are supposedly sending putty and stain so I can attempt on fixing the hole on the trim, but one thing for sure: they lost my business and now I have a door that could have been so beautiful, but now I have a door that has a hole in the trim..... If you can't personally pick the door in their warehouse: I would be very weary ordering from them

We purchased a sample interior door to see if we would like Nicks Building doors. Thank goodness we did as the door had several problematic issues. The most significant issue was the huge 1/4 inch gap between the door and the jamb that allowed light in. Also there was a chip in the laminate at the corner of the door. When asked about the gap, the representative said that was within the tolerance for their doors. That large of a gap is very shoddy looking! Answer: You made my point…thank you. As I explained carefully to you.....I was willing to fill in the nick in the laminate and re sand your sanding errors…The last straw was the 29 3/4 inch door to fill a 30 inch opening. You say that is not a problem...my point exactly...Shoddy. If a person is happy with a quarter inch gap then they should buy from you...I would advise they inspect it closely before accepting it in case there is a nick or sanding against the grain. It is not about time but about quality… I called for you to simply get me a door that was 29 7/8 inches wide and to assure that future doors would be that size… You said that was impossible so we will go elsewhere. BUYER BEWARE is my only comment.

The door I ordered is a beautiful solid mahogany with 3 decorative glass panes near the top. The packaging was great as was the customer service in all areas. Very pleased with this product and I receive many compliments. Love the door!! Thank you Nick's!!

I have now ordered from Nicks twice the prices are great, products are high quality and the service is superior. The only drawback is the shipping is rather high to New Mexico.

I was a little hesitant ordering such an expensive front door online without physically seeing it. I read almost all the reviews and the negative ones almost scared me away but I called and spoke to John about it and he made a good point - Folks don't like to take responsibility for their errors especially if they custom order a product and don't get it right so they come on here and vent. If you just double and triple check what you want there should be no issues whatsoever. Nicksbuilding makes it easy for you not to mess up and get what you want. For example they send an image on the order before you confirm it to show you which direction the door opens. It takes any second guessing out of this simple but important feature. I took a chance despite the negative reviews and I'm so glad I did. This is one of the most beautiful doors I have ever seen. More beautiful in person. It looks like it cost over 9k when it was just a fraction of that. They are so reasonable for the quality you get. The staining job was phenomenal, the speakeasy and clavos looks like it came right out of the medieval era. It's just stunning. I know that this door will get compliments from many who walk through it and I'll be happy to tell them where I purchased it. The only thing I would say to do is order it at least 6-8 weeks before you need it. I think a lot of people run out of patience waiting for their door but if you have the time it's definitely worth the wait! You won't be disappointed I assure you of that! Very pleased and satisfied customer.

Needed our doors quickly, used the rush order service and had the doors within a week!

Love my doors but a little slow to deliver. One door came finished with clavos but for some reason the other door did not come complete but included the clavos in boxes for us to attach. A little disappointed they did not both come completed.

Watch the "convenience fee" on their bill. What this actually means is they refuse to pay any charges for credit card payments so you have to pay them. If you are a builder with a large warehouse and a loading dock, terrific. If you want a delivery to a construction/renovation site good luck. Their crating doesn't take into account what will actually fit on a lift gate, at least it didn't for ours. We had to schedule a 3 hour trip to an ABF terminal to pickup our doors. Nick's Building only sells doors and slabs. They sell doors not closet solutions. You have to go find a hardware provider to specify and supply the tracks for bypass doors. This extra step adds time and cost to all the "savings" from working with Nick's. The marketing suggested solid oak doors but what we received uses filler material and veneer in portions of the door. These people are looking out for Numero Uno, be forewarned!
