I am a type 1 diabetic and will be relocating to Australia this Thursday. For people like myself who rely on life-saving medication, many airlines — even budget carriers such as Ryanair — allow passengers to bring a small additional bag at no extra cost to carry essential medical supplies. Unfortunately, Malaysia Airlines has informed me that I would need to pay £100 per additional kilogram, even when the extra allowance is solely for my medication. I find this policy deeply disappointing, as it fails to recognise the essential nature of these items and places an unfair financial burden on passengers managing chronic health conditions. I would strongly urge Malaysia Airlines to review this approach and consider adopting a more compassionate policy in line with industry standards.
