Really disappointed with Malaysia Airlines on my recent flight. The crew made no effort to enforce basic safety rules the passenger next to me spent the entire takeoff on a phone call with her boyfriend. Flight mode? I checked and the onboard WiFi definitely was not working. It didn’t feel professional or safe, and it left a poor impression of the airline’s safety standards.

I bought a business class ticket for a flatbed seat on A330 on a 6h flight and got assigned a recliner seat ini a B737 on the ground that the airline reserves the right to change the aircraft equipment at will, when it's now obvious that they offer A330 until a few weeks prior to flying and when they find out that the plane is less than full, they switch to a smaller aircraft and you've just been had!!

I have travel a lot and done a few flights with Malaysia airlines. Generally their service is pretty good and planes good. Problem is their customer service is shocking if there is a a problem. I had an issue with seat allocation (they chnaged planes and moved my upgraded seat and I wanted to move it back - my original seat was available so shoulkd be easy) and phoned their customer services. Nice lady but after an hour unable to do anything at all and said I needed to email them, so I did. Day 1 - I received an acknowledgement of my email Day 3 - I received an email to say my email had been received Day 6 - I received an email to say it was under investigation Day 11 - received an email saying they appreciated my patience Day 16 - apology as they were waiting for further input for the query from other MA departments Day 26 - They canceled our seats which was the one thing I didnt want them to do. There were further problems with this trip so I wanted to send an email to advise MA that their customer services was awful and they needed to sort this out. So I contacted their customer services to see where I could complain about them. After almost an hour on the phone the nice woman said she would call me back shortly. I never heard from her again so I emailed their customer services to ask where I could get aan email to complain to about their customer services: Day 1 - I received an acknowledgement of my email Day 6 - I received an email to provide more information on why I wanted to complain which I responded to. Day 6 - I received an email to say my email had been received Day 11 - I received an email to say it was under investigation Day 16 - received an email saying they appreciated my patience Day 21 - apology as they were waiting for further input for the query from other MA departments That was 26 days ago. I have chased them twice and received a preformatted email reply saying 'We are sorry that you have still not received a resolution to your feedback. We are unfortunately still waiting for some final reports on the incident from the departments/units involved.’ There is no way to get any customer service out of Malaysia Airlines Customer service so if you do have a problem you are in real trouble. As I said the flights and planes are fine but you dont need this sort of problems when you are on holiday where things fall apart and they wont/cant do anything. Does anyone know how to notify someone senior in MA so that they can fix this problem as I wont be flying with them again.

I will caveat this by saying we have travelled with Malaysian Airlines to KL and onwards on numerous occasions. Their cabin crew are always excellent and their Business Class offering is decent and until now we had very little to complain about. However, we have found out it's when things go wrong that you realise that the poor reviews on here are warranted. We were caught up in the recent Heathrow closure and were redirected to Schiphol. Malaysia do not have a hub or any ground staff there and communication from the airline was absolutely non existent. Passengers were essentially dumped from the plane with no idea where to go or what to do. Every desk you went to could give no information. I rang the airline and spoke to a young lady who didn't even seem to know there was a problem at Heathrow and then proceeded to cut me off. More by luck and word of mouth through other passengers we found a Swissport representative who assisted us and sent us to reclaim our bags (which took 5 hours because Malaysian Airlines wouldn'tyrelease them) before being bussed to a hotel. None of this information came from Malaysia Airlines whose communication with us even at this stage was still zero. The only email many of us received was at 8.30 am the following morning at the hotel confirming we had been booked on a mid-day flight and the coach was leaving at 8am (30 mins before the email!) It was an unprecedented and unexpected turn of events, however proper communication to their passengers would have done a lot to alleviate the stress and chaos we all faced at the airport. 1. There should have been someone to meet us from the plane telling us where to congregate or wait for more information. 2. Once Malaysia had agreed a plan with the appointed ground agent, passengers should have been updated and advised by email. They did eventually get us home on the same plane back to Heathrow. The overnight accommodation was a good standard. However their complete lack of communication throughout the situation will now make us think twice about whether we use Malaysian Airlines again.

Our family of 4 didn’t get the seats we payed for on either my outbound or return flight from Perth to KL. My teenage daughters were even seated on an exit row crew until we complained at the gate and crew found 2 people willing to swap. Seems like a newer plane but it had narrow seats and no in-built entertainment system - you have to connect to inflight system use your own device. We also had internal flights on MA to Langkawi that were rescheduled multiple times. When I asked for a refund so I could book on another airline with desirable times I was told I’d have to cancel my entire booking. All around disappointing. I could’ve paid half the price on Air Asia and received the same crappy service. I’d give them one star but we got to our destination safely so that’s gotta count for something.

Heartbroken and Let Down by Malaysian Airlines Malaysian Airlines, I never thought I would feel compelled to write such a review, but here I am, deeply disappointed and heartbroken. Once a symbol of excellence in the skies, you are now a shadow of what you used to represent. After everything—the tragedies, the heartbreak, the unimaginable loss of life—I believed you would make every effort to rebuild trust, to show your customers that you care. Yet here we are, and I feel completely let down. My wife and I, along with our 2-year-old son, had planned a Christmas getaway—something we rarely get to do after working hard all year. It was also a special occasion for us—our anniversary trip. We booked flights departing on the 25th of December and returning on the 2nd of January. (Ticket booking reference- 6IKD2M & 6JX7EQ) We were looking forward to quality family time and creating precious memories. Instead, what we got was stress, frustration, and heartbreak. We drove all the way from Canberra to the airport, only to be told the flight was canceled. No prior communication, no warning—just canceled. Even our travel agent, who booked the tickets, was only notified two hours before the flight. Two hours! How is that even acceptable? We were offered nothing but a hotel stay for the night and rebooked on a flight the next afternoon. And all we got was a cold, almost robotic, “Sorry for the inconvenience.” That’s it. As if those four words could somehow undo the chaos you caused in our lives. Our hotel reservation in Malaysia was canceled without a refund. We had to rebook a domestic flight with AirAsia, incurring extra fees. And worst of all, we lost a whole day of our holiday—a day we had planned and saved for months in advance. One of the most special trips of our lives—our Christmas vacation and anniversary celebration—was ruined. And your response to all of this? “Sorry for the inconvenience.” Do you even realize what you took away from us? Do you understand the time, effort, and hard-earned money that people invest in these moments? For us, this trip wasn’t just a vacation—it was a chance to make memories as a family, memories we can never get back. Instead, we were left feeling undervalued, disrespected, and completely powerless. I don’t understand how a company can treat its customers this way. Where is the accountability? Where is the proper compensation for the losses we’ve suffered because of your poor management? How is it that your money—the money you save by cutting corners—is so much more valuable than ours? The money we save through hard work, planning, and sacrifice to create happy moments in our lives? It feels like you see us not as people, but as wallets—just numbers in your profit margins. Malaysian Airlines, you need to do better. You need to value your customers as human beings and not just as a source of income. Empty apologies like “sorry for the inconvenience” don’t cut it when you’ve disrupted lives in such a significant way. Words are easy, but actions are what matter. Proper compensation and genuine accountability for situations like this are absolutely necessary. I hope no other family has to go through what we did. I truly hope you start valuing the people who put their trust in you. Because right now, it feels like that trust was very, very misplaced.
