Absolutely ludicrous practices of this office. My wife scheduled an appointment yesterday for tomorrow (7/19 for 7/21). She realized the next day that the appointment was not with a psychiatrist but with a psychotherapist (not what she scheduled for). So she cancelled the appointment and they charged us $100 cancellation fee because we cancelled 48-hours prior to the appointment time. SHE SCHEDULED THE APPOINTMENT 48-hours before the appointment. How can you charge a patient who isn't even officially a patient yet. Not one document has been signed. Not one HIPAA document has been signed. Not one practice policies document has been signed. NOTHING. NOT TO MENTION: the fact that even if SHE made a mistake in scheduling, she wouldn't be able to fix it without the $100 cancellation fee because she scheduled it 48-hours before the appointment date.
Tried to call and fix it; apparently only Billing Dept. can handle it but they are closed. AT 3:45pm on a Wednesday, they are closed. What kind of practice is being run over there?
I expect for this practice to fix this wrong.

Overcharged for poor services
This company took over where my step daughter was receiving counseling services. I would rate the counselor fair to poor. They gave us recommendations for her behavior that were not age appropriate. We were basically told to give her what she wants to make her happy. As far as the company, we made all payments when we received the bill. However, after over a year of not receiving services they sent us another bill in which they overcharged us and sent us to collections. So if you want to be overcharged for poor service, then this is the company for you.

Looking for an actual doctor? Keep looking.
Looking for an actual doctor? Well, that is pretty much impossible to do with this company. They employ mainly uneducated nurses who at the very most might of only taken a certification course at some point. These nurse employees that you will end up seeing if you choose to use this company did not go to medical school. The training that they received with regards to the field of Psychiatry is unbelievably minimal and rudimentary. They are not doctors in any way shape or form. Why would a company hire so many nurses instead of doctors?
The answer is because it is more profitable for the company to hire nurses because they don't have to be paid as much. Yes, its all about profit first, and your needs might come second with Lifestance health.

I do NOT recommend in any way.
This was MY experience as a therapist:
I signed on with LifeStance in early 2022. I had to wrap things up with my previous employer, while they sent me scads of emails & things to do electronically. The biggest problems were: I got vastly different information from different people (hours - total & scheduling); I was repeatedly told that the office would be able to hold all my supplies (true play therapy requires a lot). This was so wrong & I was told by the site supervisor I could put play therapy in one office, while keeping the other for non-play therapy. After MUCH hullabaloo about getting the company computer & told many things that did not come to fruition, I participated in orientation on my own laptop. After the three days, I then saw one person; on the next day, I was told I could not occupy two offices. I gave my notice & they took it as of that day. I got paid the pittance for orientation & - after three months - have not been paid for the one session! In fact, they are not responding to my emails anymore! It's not a lot of money, it is the principle of the matter, after all the crap they put me through!
FYI: In IL, you are to be paid more than once a month when you're a W-2 employee, which they are also not doing.
Good luck if you decide to go with them!

MET WITH DR ANNETTE REYNOLDS
MET WITH DR. ANNETE REYNOLDS AND MY CONSULT EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATIONS. SHE WAS ATTENTIVE, PROBED VERY WELL AND GENERALLY INTERESTED IN PRESCRIBING A TREATMENT PLAN. I AM CONFIDENT I AM ON TTHE RIGHT TRACK AND AM IN THE HANDS OF A VERY GOOD PSYCHIATRIST. RECOMMEND HER HIGHLY!

My wife and I have had multiple billing…
My wife and I have had multiple billing issues. LifeStance will charge you incorrectly for sessions and they will not correct the issue after calling many times. It appears their billing department is very incompetent and they honestly do not care about what they charge you or correcting issues. good luck with this company... they will over charge and not care.

Questionable charges
I called this company among 200 others to determine if they were accepting patients. (They were, and from the ratings on Trustpilot I can see why they don't have enough patients.) Nobody in my family ever has been a patient.
They filed a claim with the insurance company and when they discovered insurance wouldn't pay due to my deductible, they charged me. They filed it as a "psychologic diagno evaluation". I don't know how a therapist can do a diagnostic evaluation on my daughter without speaking with her.
I interviewed dozens of therapists over the past 5 years and I've never heard of anyone being charged for a pre-intake interview.

Unethical & Predatory
Lifestance Health has changed its name multiple times because it continues to screw patients. Their terms are opaque and unavailable to be read after agreed to - I have been pleading for nearly six months to get a copy of the terms I signed when I joined and am met with silence or a reminder for a bill. It's illegal for them not to keep those files and provide them to patients upon request, by the way.
They submit my claims to insurance incorrectly in October and then did not update it until January, changing my bill from $25 to over $1100 overnight without explanation. When I asked for more information (via their chat portal, literally the only way to get in contact with someone), it took TWO WEEKS for someone to reply and say that I entered the wrong insurance.
They don't keep records visible for me to see what my insurance is on record, and because my bills continued as normal for months, I didn't know there was an issue. I thought it would be a simple fix since I could provide the correct insurance, but they claimed the 90-day policy had passed and they will not refile the claim with the correct insurance. I asked for documentation of this 90-day policy, I have yet to see it. Also, THEY WAITED 90 DAYS TO NOTIFY ME OF THE INSURANCE ISSUE. I had no way of verifying which insurance was on file to ensure it was correct for the date of service. They set me up to owe this amount and they are threatening collections despite my making regular payments to get the balance down and the fact that this is still in review with my insurance company, who assures me that this is not my responsibility while Lifestance keeps threatening me.
It is impossible to speak with anyone who isn't an entry-level staffer in the billing department. They erase full records of conversations with therapists that included resources for me to reference without warning or consent. They delete documents without warning or consent. Their formal complaint service goes into a black hole and if they reply, it's a phone call with "we received your complaint, we will not address it, and it is now closed".
This is a for-profit organization that had an IPO in 2021 and has since delivered profits less than predicted as shown in public filings. It doesn't feel like a coincidence that they have these terrible organizational and billing practices to take advantage of patients and bolster their own profits.
Speaking with this organization has induced panic attacks and made my mental health considerably worse. I feel pangs in my chest and shortness of breath when I receive any sort of alert from them. They are supposed to be an organization that supports and treats mental health. When I had a panic attack on the phone with a representative, she threatened to hang up on me.
I am not the first with this exact experience regarding insurance having been incorrect but the charges were not amended until past the arbitrary 90-day window they claim (but for which they will not provide documentation). When I asked when they knew the insurance didn't process correctly, they told me the system updated 14 days after the claim, but they did not change anything on my bill until a full THREE MONTHS after. When I asked why it took them so long, they replied "we don't have the resources" to check too frequently. Sure, but you can definitely check it more frequently than THREE MONTHS. Especially if you have a policy requiring changes be made in a three month window!
This organization goes by Lifestance, Lifestance Health, Pacific Coast Psychiatric Associates, and PCPA (that I'm aware, maybe there are more?). It is intentionally difficult to properly research patient experience because it is fragmented on the internet.
DO NOT WORK WITH THEM, protect yourself and your mental health.
