Awful....there is no number to speak to anyone. So you have to jump through hoops of talking to bots and chats just to try and get to a human. And then God forbid you have another issue..now you have to start all over. They make it as difficult as possible to get assistance. Clearly they don't want you speaking to anyone. I guess Amazon doesn't have enough money to pay Reps to assist their authors. Billions are not enough.

I am satisfied
It is a learning curve, but once you follow directions to the letter, it is easy. I have been using them for years now. My only complaint is that the covers could be stronger. After a short time, they curl. I would happily pay more for a better cover, but there is no such option. My other complaint is that they do not make our books available in bookstores as IngramSparks claims to do. Otherwise, it would have been five stars from me.

Have been waiting a week for a call…
Have been waiting a week for a call back despite several calls. Each time I can only get a hold of people from Amazon because the number for KDP doesn't exist along with their email address. I've been promised a call back 3 times now and nothing. I have 3 books published with these people and that's the level of service I'm receiving...

incredibly poor and insulting service from KDP
Quick backstory: I wrote the first edition of a book in 1989 through Masters Press (Indianapolis) as well as a second edition in 1991. Over time, Masters Press -- a very small company that published about 12 titles a year -- got gobbled up by increasingly larger publishers, finally ending up in the hands of McGraw-Hill. I did a third edition of the book in 1994 or 95. In 2011, I requested and received a reversion of rights for the book from McGraw-Hill. I self-published a fourth edition of the book in 2012 and a fifth edition in 2018.
A few months ago, I set up an account with KDP to sell my book (POD). Near the end of the process, I received an email from KDP, asking to confirm my publishing rights. I sent KDP copies of the letters that I had received from McGraw-Hill, indicating that I owned the copyright to the book. KDP wasn't satisfied and asked for more documentation. I responded to KDP, noting that I had provided letters clearly stating that I owned the copyright and asked for what specific information I needed to submit. I received an email with the same canned list as before. There was absolutely no guidance directed to my specific needs. Shortly thereafter, I received an email from KDP with this note: "We have terminated your KDP account because we detected activities that attempt to manipulate our services." Not only is this an outright lie but it's also an insult to my integrity. I fully understand the need for KDP to thoroughly vet materials that are submitted. However, I provided what seems to be perfectly ample documentation. In asking for further documentation, I received no guidance beyond a canned list. And then I was summarily dismissed, with the implication that I was trying to "manipulate" the system, essentially meaning that I was in the process of committing a fraudulent activity.

It did turn out well in the end
Had I been able to give it no stars, I would. I have come to the conclusion that KDP stands for Kindle Dalek Publishers, My situation? Book was published by Real press uk and obtainable through Amazon who did POD. When my publisher died, the authors had to find a new home. My Publishing Agency submitted the book to Amazon/KDP and it was published on 8th May. Even received a congratulatory letter. I noticed a typo on the blurb. Agency immediately corrected it and resubmitted. KDP closed my account for unusual activity. On appeal they reopened it. They then blocked the book. Reason: likely to prove disappointing etc. Appealed, and told the decision stood. My question: How can a book pu lished by them on 8th May and out there for purchase, suddenly be blocked on 13th May? Same book, same format, same cover, Appealed again but don't hold out much hope. Very very disappointed. Now adding some good news. I wrote again and this time, within 24 hours everything had been reinstated. Many thanks to the real person who took notice, read my letter and acted.

Account Terminated After 2.5 Years - $3,500 Withheld - No Human Review
AUTOMATED TERMINATION WITHOUT DUE PROCESS - EARNED INCOME WITHHELD
I was a legitimate KDP publisher for 2.5 years with regular sales and no prior issues.
WHAT HAPPENED:
• Account terminated via automated email
• Reason: "Multiple accounts" - COMPLETELY FALSE
• I had ONE account only, accessed from mobile and workplace computer
• $3,500 in EARNED royalties confiscated
• Never received any warnings in 2.5 years
THE PROBLEM:
Amazon's automated system falsely flagged my account, likely because:
- I accessed from workplace computer where a former colleague may have used KDP
- Shared IP address triggered "multiple accounts" detection
Despite this being a clear FALSE POSITIVE:
❌ No human review provided
❌ Only robotic, copy-paste responses
❌ Refused to provide specific evidence
❌ No real appeal process
❌ Withheld $3,500 I legitimately earned
UNANSWERED QUESTIONS:
• What specific content violated guidelines? (They won't say)
• Which "other account" am I supposedly connected to? (They won't say)
• Why no warning before permanent ban? (They won't say)
• Why confiscate EARNED income? (They won't say)
I've sent multiple appeals, filed BBB complaint, contacted executives - only automated responses: "This is our final decision."
FOR OTHER PUBLISHERS:
⚠️ Be aware: One false positive from automated systems can destroy your business
⚠️ No human review, no appeal, no recourse
⚠️ They will keep your earned money
⚠️ If you access from multiple locations (work, home, mobile), you risk being flagged
This is not how a trustworthy platform operates. Small publishers deserve:
✓ Human review before termination
✓ Specific evidence of violations
✓ Right to appeal with real investigation
✓ Payment of legitimately earned income
Amazon has the resources to provide proper review instead of letting automated systems destroy livelihoods.
Deeply disappointed after 2.5 years of legitimate work.

KDP has a terrible spell checker
KDP has a terrible spell checker. Never trust theirs. I had numerous misspelled words in my book, World War 3 and the 6000th Year Rapture, for the longest time. Only until I put my script thru a real spell checker was I able to make the corrections.

Technical Failure of Bilingual ID Verification by KDP resulting in account termination notice
Technical Failure of Verification System for Bilingual IDs in May 2026. KDP members are receiving an automated customer service reply after their accounts are getting locked out with a notice of termination by 20th of May 2026 due to a technical issue with the system, it cannot recognize a bilingual ID, it gives an error message of name mismatch. Customer service email suggests that they cannot accept manual review of IDs.
