I created a book of my paintings. My publishing team was quick to respond to questions and reviews while they helped make edits. While the images of my paintings looked gorgeous while working with the team, the images in the printed books are blurry and dull. I'm extremely disappointed, and embarrassed by the product. My publishing team has all but ghosted me.

Update with solution…
Like many here my Amazon retail account was terminated with no way to appeal and can't access books I'm selling on the Amazon KDP dashboard. I can't access or get paid for the books I have listed. My account was terminated for no explanation other than "unusual activity." Whatever that means. Most frustrating is the email states you can't appeal, and customer service can't help. Extremely frustrating and many hours poured into books I wrote. My account is terminated and I have no way to appeal a decision not clearly defined. No customer service and they can't even discuss the matter with you on the retail account.
*** Update: My account is terminated but I was able to open a new account with Kindle and transfer the books to the new account. Customer service in retail doesn't work at all. The Kindle customer service can be reached by bot chat asking for a human rep. They walked me through how to transfer the account after setting up the new W9 tax information and new account. There are many steps and a little complicated but can be done contacting Kindle customer service and not Amazon retail.

I was not paid for April 2026
Usually reliable, however, I was not paid for teo book sales on two accounts for April 2026 and cannot get anyone to respond. The platform is being manipulated.

KDP has a terrible spell checker
KDP has a terrible spell checker. Never trust theirs. I had numerous misspelled words in my book, World War 3 and the 6000th Year Rapture, for the longest time. Only until I put my script thru a real spell checker was I able to make the corrections.

KDP IS IN DECLINE-AVOID
Five years ago I'd have said go for it. The process was relatively hassle-free, and allowed someone with no representation or publisher to access global markets with relative ease. As a result, I published nineteen titles on KDP. But I think I will never put another one on this broken platform, and here's why:
1. Loss of Control of Author Page: Every six months to a year, I lose control of my author page. It's there, and then, it isn't. So I cannot control my product, hence, I call Customer Service, and that's where the fun begins!
2. Abysmal Customer Service: When I reach the Indian call centre with my issue, if it's too hard for the operator, they direct me to a dead phone number. The last time I tried getting help, I only got it on the fourth call. And the problem doesn't stay fixed.
3. Poor Quality Control: Over the last few years, I've noticed a decline in the quality of the product. Print jobs that are off-centre or blurry, and poor colour settings ruining expensive, custom-designed covers. Expect zero ownership or accountability.
Frankly, that's it for me. I don't know what I'm going to do with my product in future, but Amazon seems to be discarding it's self-published authors, so I suppose it's a mutual breakup?
