I published my book in June, 2026 with KDP Amazon and I had close friends that were excited about my book and ordered it right away in front of me and my sales were not recorded. This was not professional or business like conduct and I am very disappointed with this matter because I truly trusted this business. I would not recommend this company to anyone else and I would never use this company again. This has effected my mental health daily.

Four books approved, similar fifth rejected—no direct explanation Amazon KDP previously accepted and published four of my illustrated eBooks—Consecrated Justice: Episodes 1 and 2 and Chapters 1 and 2—using fixed-layout formatting with text presented as images. KDP then rejected Episode 3, prepared using essentially the same formatting approach, because it contained images of text. I have repeatedly asked a straightforward question: What explains the different treatment? Has the policy changed, were the earlier approvals mistakes, or is there a specific difference in Episode 3 that makes it unacceptable? The responses I have received repeatedly direct me to general formatting and content guidelines without answering that question. I have also requested escalation but have not received a substantive explanation. Contacting Amazon customer service resulted in another referral back to KDP. I understand that previous approval does not guarantee approval of another book. What I expect is a clear explanation of the specific issue and practical guidance that addresses my submission. The most frustrating part of this experience has been the inability to obtain a direct answer after repeated correspondence. Authors invest considerable time preparing their books and need understandable, consistently explained publishing requirements. I am asking Amazon to have an authorized reviewer examine this correspondence and explain why Episode 3 is being treated differently.

If there is 0 star, or negative star or a rotten tomato to be throw , it should be given to Amazon KDP. I am a first time book creator and the support I received from the team outsourced to some India contact center is very bad. I am not sure if they are using Google translator , English is not their main language or they just gaslighting to lead you 1 big round. When you ask about problem A and B, they will answer only about problem A. When you ask again about problem B, they will keep repeating their answer about problem A like a spoilt A.I bot. A lot of content creator are also complaining on the official Amazon KDP forums. It supposed to take 72 hours to list a title but sometimes its more than a week. A lot of complaints from other people here and elsewhere are true. There is lack of transparency in a lot of things. Then there is this shady suspicious part about paying $ for ads to boost traffic or impressions to your book titles on sale. It works just like meta or instagram ads but on a lousier scale. One look and you can tell its a con job. I can just hire more bots or "muthu" to visit the landing page of your book title and no one will know that its not a genuine human interested buyer. Vice versa, I can handicap the book creators that do not pay $ for such ads. For those that are not clear about the potential earnings that is not explained in a clear way, I will explain in a clear way. The cost of printing a big book in color premium is USD 4.60 as of Oct 2026. If you set a price of USD 10 with a royalty of 60%, Amazon will first take 40% of its share leaving you with only USD6. The cost of printing is then deducted from your 60% / USD 6 which leaves you only USD 1.40 . For some countries, like Singapore, there are hidden charges and your book will not show up in some of the search result. Sometimes it will prompt that your search result will only show what can be delivered. You have to access a different country Amazon or enter the direct landing page of your book to view. But no stranger or potential buyer would actually think that they cannot see your book in the first place. For example, Singapore. Most of the times, it will mention that the book is unable to be delivered there. When you managed to figure out, it is not the equivalent of USD10 They do not have a direct printing house in some countries and some Muslim countries do not allow Amazon books when I read from somewhere. They have strict rules like children activity books cannot be an e-book on Amazon since Kindle do not support. In contract, Apple books and Google play books allow children activity books. There are many other alternatives like Ingramspark, LULU, Penguin, Wiley, Google, Apple, Epigram, Ethos etc etc. I understand that different publishers have different costs, royalty rates etc. But Amazon KDP isnt as great as it seems to be. No one will see your book if its listed there if you dont pay for the ads for many reasons . It not just about having a unique title phrasing that stands out from the search result. The platform is designed to push certain book titles to you on your live feed and screen. I did an experiment on my end. Whenever, I view my own book anonymously, I can see thumbnail banners of other book titles at my own book thumbnail and picture and asking the viewer to click on another book instead of mine. Of course, no one actually comes to my landing page at all. People also have issues with the actual amount of books sold etc. The Amazon A+ content to list your book title is another big hassle. Its not like ebay or carousel in which you upload your pictures, simply write your text and other easy steps. If you do not use their Amazon A+ content to list your book, you can only upload one picture in your landing site and cannot customize it further. In short, if you want to sell your book; it has to be seen by your target audiences has a reasonable price and/or delivery timeframe reasonable revenue user friendly interface have proper customer support Amazon KDP doesnt have the above. As of 16 Oct 2026, my book is listed USD 9.99 and I stay in Singapore. To get it shipped here from Amazon US, the price tag is SGD 26 (excluding delivery fee payable by buyer) but the exchange rate is not even 1USD: 1.29 SGD. hidden charges like handling fee/ VAT etc which is definitely marked up. Seriously? The book only costs about SGD 13 if anyone uses an establish commercial bank rates if converted from 9.99 USD. Amazon is deviously charging another SGD 13 and disguising it as import and customs handling. This definitely chases any potential customer away. I am so glad I made my first book and experiment trying to buy it. I have proof of whatever I said as I took screenshots. Do not be fooled by Amazon KDP customer support, public relations response or "customs handling" charges. I can choose to buy from Amazon JP or UK or Germany but its crazy high.

Amazon KDP blocked the publication of my book with full bleed images simply because the images included handwritten text that went intentionally beyond the "safe" margins. This was a stylistic choice done intentionally. KDP inappropriately editorialized and art directed my work, even though I already had a perfectly printed phsyical copy of the book from them - leading me to abandon the project with KDP after 6 unsuccessful tries at remedying the issue with staff and supervisors. Typical large corporation support nightmare, where the protocol didn't handle an edge case well. I just wanted to give them business. They made me very sad and frustrated instead. Epic failure for me. Any given customer is just noise to them.

The customer service is diabolical! I have sent several messages to them both via email and their own contact form and have not had one reply even though they say that they respond within 24 to 48 hours. They also state that if a cover rendering fails they will automatically reimburse the credits (THEY DO NOT!)

I am working with a client who is the author. She’s adept enough on her computer but the process of requesting a proof has caused her so much stress because she keeps missing the window to respond and it times out or when she goes to confirm the purchase there is nothing in her cart. She was eventually able to order a proof, and when she got it, we had some issues with the content that required a re-release. Went through the proof ordering ordeal again. Then there was a huge storm and the area the last proof was done was seeing shipping delays. Three days later, finally get it, double wrapped in plastic. However, what they sent as a re-proof of the manuscript is the previous version. It was a complete waste of time and her money. Everything on the website looks exactly as it should, correct version, it’s been approved, etc. But that reproof, which was three days late due to weather on their end, was wrong. Zero customer service and if you drill down through their FAQs on the site, you’ll see that any mistake that occurs, is deemed to be yours. They even show you a little chart on there indicating a list of problems which are obviously “printer error” such as wrong page counts and correct manuscript and tell you that it’s not considered an error, and buy another proof. No refund process for the bad proof, no one to talk to. I am going to dig for some way to talk to a human if I can but this poor client of mine has been trying to get a little book out for over a month and KDP is the one dragging. We’re more than ready. We’ll try to order a proof again today but jeez, can’t they figure out an ordering process like any other online printer? Other printers can show you progress, confirmations, etc. It’s supposed to be Amazon. Why don’t they have more advanced or more logical technology? Can’t they use AI to give the customer a summary of their account activity?
