Take a deep breath, it's not going to be easy
Experience in a European country. It all started with them asking for past employment history (start and end date with mm/yy), proof of education and authorization for criminal checks around the world. All the info should be provided with the contact detail of a person working at the institution at current times. After the submission, they started asking for more documents and contact details. One batch of information asked per day during 6 working days, so you wait for the notification to understand what's next to proof your innocence. Employment proof of current employer, contract with starting date and last payslip. Contact detail of both line manager and HR. They wrote to the line manager to confirm again data with reminders every day. Same for past employers, but without line managers contact. The number of past employers checked varies based on the agreement with the hiring company. During the process you don't know anything and after uploading everything that you have, you just sit there and wait for 7/8 days waiting for some info. My suggestion is to find a good contact person at HR at your hiring company to get some updates. At the end the experience went well, but you just feel guilty all the time.
