I'm a business. They keep calling to verify employment for someone that never worked for me. I called back and explained the error. They told that they did a Google search and figured my company name was similar enough, even though they confirmed my company name and phone number were not provided by their applicant.

Horrible experience. As many others have said they ask for more information every other day and do not bother to do anything themselves. It would have been easier to provide this information at the start. They are unable to verify my MA degree despite the fact that I have sent every possible document from the university. Overall a horrible experience that has caused a lot of stress.

The process has been slow, over a month. I have almost completely lost interest in my new job now. They have moved so slowly that I now have to repeat my physical and drug test. Starting a new job should be fun and exciting. HireRight is making me question my move. I am debating turning down the job due to how poorly the onboarding process has gone. Truly a shame that this company is the first experience people have to their new job. Really ruins the excitment.

Asked me for a new document everyday for 2 weeks just because they couldn’t be asked to find this info themselves and then at the end told me I hadn’t provided some info even tho I sent this to HireRight would sort you teams out as this is a poorly managed company

A bunch of incompetent workers with no common sense! I have over 25 years of work experience in the USA with well reputed, multi-million and multi-billion dollar firms. Recently, I had the misfortune of having to work with Hire Right, stationed in Poland. Negatives: 1. Hire Right claimed they could not verify any of my past 14 years employment. 2. They are slow as hell and very confusing. 3. They don’t explain what they are looking for. 4. You have to provide phone numbers of past employers. Hire Right requires you to provide phone numbers of past employers. Who keeps all the phone numbers?? I, for one, do not. So, in one instance, the phone number of a multi-billion dollar employer that I provided Hire Right (I had to Google it and copy and paste it into Hire Right’s form), might have been mis-dialed or was simply not working. This led Hire Right staffer to conclude that this company is out of business (it most definitely is not). 5. You don’t get to speak to the person who did the checking in your case. You either get an automated Email or an operator who can’t tell you exactly what was attempted and what came of it. 6. It has been over 6 days and it doesn’t look like I will start on the day I agreed to. No fault of my own, mind! 7. Hire Right takes the joy out of starting a new job/career.  Positives: Big Zilch, nada, none. If you are unfortunate enough to deal with this business, may your Higher Powers give you the strength needed to deal with asinine staff and mediocrity beyond your wildest imagination.

I'm not even the prospective employee but watching my wife deal with this company has made me appreciate dealing with the DoD and their background process!!! If you know what that means you know its all that needs to be said regarding how terrible hireright is. All of these 200+ 1 star reviews are on the money. My wife is a nurse and has had three positions in three different hospitals over our moves the last 6 years, never once was the background check process an issue. Now all of a sudden HireRight can't verify half of her previous employers despite our calling those very employers HR departments and verifying employment dates in a matter of minutes. The level of incompetence is obscene and shouldn't be tolerated on any professional level. I keep seeing these replies from hireright saying sorry for the terrible experience. Why don't y'all spend the time your spending replying to these overwhelmingly terrible reviews of your business and actually fix what very clearly is a consistent issue with your business. It is your job to do a background check, your job to call previous employers and verify employment dates. Whatever database you are using to streamline your process clearly doesn't work so why don't you start doing some worthwhile work these employers are paying you to do. No more saving face with empty apologies, actually do the work!

I have worked with the Department of Defense. Getting a security clearance is less invasive and less cumbersome than dealing with HireRight, about which there is NOTHING right. In future, I will immediately decline any job that involves HireRight.

1 star is a higher review than I prefer to leave for HireRight. I’ve never seen anything like this. As law enforcement, I have done many background checks (both state and federal). I have never been told a job couldn’t be verified. It’s pretty simple- call the company and verify it. But instead, HireRight has you send in countless documents and still can’t verify it. For example, they want the end date for the job I’m currently at. There is no end date! I’m still here! Unbelievably inept. Now, you’ll see below my comment, their insulting response which says they are “sorry you’ve had a negative experience” and to contact their customer service because they’d “love to hear from you.” They also say you can submit W2 for employer, but that it must include a start and end date. That’s not how W2’s work. The fact that this even needs explained tells you they do not know what they’re doing. I’m hoping to still get the position I’ve been hired for, but the rate this is going, I don’t know. After reading the reviews, how is this company an legit background company?
