HireRightReviews of hireright.com

This company is the worst! Employers need to think twice before hiring this company! Is sad to see how companies miss good talents and valuable candidates because of the horrible work of HireRight...

I accepted a offer for a position in early August. The company submitted a HireRight background check shortly afterward. On August 30th my hiring manager reaches out and says the HireRight background check is 84% complete -- it's just pending a criminal background check in San Bernadino County, California, a place I've never stepped foot in! My hiring manager also assures me the background check has been expedited and there is nothing to worry about. On September 14th I called HireRight to check on the status of my background check and got ahold of a representative. They said that the background check was still pending San Bernardino County, but they could expedite the process. Today I got a call from my recruiter saying the hiring manager is going to move on and start interviewing other candidates because the background check is taking too long. I bought a house for this job and changed my kid's school. Thanks for losing my dream job HireRight!

I have been waiting for a job for 3 weeks because of this company. The company I want to work for assured me I would be hired by the 15th. It's the 29th and still waiting on my background. In my career I have worked on military bases, Lockheed Martin, and nuclear power plants. My background is spotless, what is this company doing? How much worse of a job can they do. I won't even tell you about my wife's experience as a nurse with this company. Absolutely terrible.

This co. is a bad joke. I've never had to deal with such a inefficient background check service since I joined the workforce so many years ago. They don't even try to reach out to previous employers, They basically had me doing their homework for them. Can't believe companies actually give these people money for their crappy services.

I have gone through a background check with HireRight. I have been through background checks multiple times in the past from credible companies and I have to say never ever I have provided so much information to a company that is supposed to do the background check. I was quite anxious because as you can see here within 350 comments they have 1.1 star rating. I must have read all the comments and all the Reddit posts so compared to them I had a better experience and writing this review to soothe anyone if they are nervous. - Background Check Types HireRight seems to have different plans for different customers. From what I have seen there is Criminal Check, Education Check, Employment Check and a Medical Check. You can understand what you got from the form that they want you to fill in. If they want you the fill in Employment or Education ( doesn't matter what you have typed in the initial form they will keep asking weird information constantly even if you have provided them first or later during the process ) you will have a horrible time. For employment check they want pay stubs,HR contact,Team Lead contact and job contract with exact dates and your name. Even if you provide all of these there is a high chance they will not accept anything and send you back the same alert in the system. Why is this a background check company if I am giving all this info. I could just send this to HR what are you providing as a service? For address check it is the same. They want you to show document that has your name and address on it. I didn't have such document for the house that I have stayed 2 years ago because it belonged to my parents. I got a document from the official government website with barcodes and verifiable QR code/document number so you could go to a .gov domain and check if it is valid that I have stayed there. Their so called researcher rejected that document. I had to talk to a customer support to fix this I don't know what they did since they don't give you the final report either. - Speed Like I said I was lucky. My process took around 1.5 weeks. You can see tons of people with 1.5 month into this and I can see why. Their so called outsourced researchers are not doing their job and keep sending notifications with no explanation. - Customer Support Again one of the things that I think I was lucky ( hence the 3 star review ). I have seen people getting customer support agents that clearly doesn't have any experience talking in English. They might have fixed that I got 2 people ( possibly fake names ) who helped me fix my problems on live chat. If you are based in the US and try to call someone that might be a different case. Overall I feel I got away without much mental damage but if I get a different job offer in the future I will pray to multiple deities that they don't work with HireRight. It might even be a question on the first interview.

I was waiting on a background check to start a contract position with a client. Gave them my information and any additional information that they asked for and then heard nothing from them. Called on an almost daily basis to check the status and it was stagnant for 2 weeks. I have never had to wait this long for a background check; at most it was completed in a couple of business days because there is nothing on my record. I called to get more information about why my background check was delayed. I was informed that they were waiting on a court record for a 10 year criminal record search......ok no problem right? Wrong.....I found out that the record they were waiting on was from my birthplace in California....a place I haven't been to in over 25 years......now why would they need records from them if the criminal record search only goes back 10 years and I've lived in my current state since then? And then they had the audacity to say the company ordered the report from CA.....no they didn't, these people are just incompetent, and because of them I lost out on work.

Delay in report and cannot give a reason. When you contact via chat you get "Mary" who keeps on saying sorry and to contact the US number as the UK ones do not work. So if I want to speak to a human its an internationall call at my expense. All the reviews here are spot on, useless

Um, yeah no!!! Just got offered a job that I applied for as a receptionist and instead they claim I would be good for sales and that's not what I applied for! Then I give them my info and person and now they're like use this site to do a background check. Reading the reviews, I did what I do best, fliiped the info! The company I applied to, I just found out has a BBB letter F and apparently this Hireright company is right there with them. Thank you all for your reviews and honesty! Let's keep eachother safe! Glad I cross referenced before giving this Hireright company my info.
