Hi, I have been awaiting my background check with Hire Right to clear for 4 weeks now. The CSR's claim that The Cook County portion is what's pending. So today I reached out to Cook County via email today& was told that they have not received a request from Hire Right or any 3rd party vendor concerning a background check. The rep asked if I would like to request a copy of my records for a fee of $6. Do you know she emailed my records to me within 5-10 minutes. So the question is why can't Hire Right get the records?

They are slow and takes at least 1 month to get a simple background check done, You will be on hold for hours and they can never answer your questions.

To call the background checks intrusive is an understatement, and go absurdly beyond the reasonable - I can give the example of asking for my driver's licence or passport, and further in the process then demanding both anyway when either should be more than adequate, furthermore attempts to claw full residential and employment history from the moment I was born, which is unnecessary (fyi you should only need to provide up to 6 years) - they're playing the "let us grab as much information as possible or you will lose your job" card - a flagrant disregard for sense / reason / anyone's sense of privacy, and what will people do if HireRight gets hacked??? The process is technically incompetent and disorganised - having received an acknowledgement I have completed the process, communication to the company concerned has been that the process has not been completed yet. From what I've seen I frankly wouldn't be surprised if personal information is being sold on - not happy at all - as someone in a senior position I have strongly advised we do not use HireRight.

Absolutely Awful, upsetting, worst, incompetent employees with less knowledge on other countries rules and regulations. The software they use is really horrible. This HIRERIGHT is one of the worst background check company I have faced in my entire work tenure of 13years. They are worthless and also they are asking for same documents over and over, and the software they are using are really crappy one. They don't even use there own office phone number they use VPN to get through others country network and call the candidates from there which is really illogical to do so. They are asking for my present company contact to get a background check which I believe no one will give present company contact details until and unless they get a confirmation of the joining date or onboarded with the new company. There will be a risk of losing a job with the present company as well, which I believe there incompetent employees or system do not understand and so that they made my check till 84%. Really absurd and worthless, and they are taking almost 1 month to review my background which actually takes 7 to 10 days to complete. I should obviously advise the other companies not to go in contract with HIRE RIGHT as you might loose a potential candidates in joining your company as they will delay the process of onboarding and do not rely on the reports as they do not have that knowledge at all. For Companies: Go for other employee verification background check entities and do not make agreement with HIRERIGHT at all. For Candidates: Please note if you are getting hired into a company and you came to know that HIRE RIGHT will do the verification get well ready with a mind set that you will not get the joining as HIRERIGHTS will definitely delay with incompetency and this will lead to not join the other company, and please do not resign from your present company as well as you might end up with loosing both side. First get confirmation that HIRERIGHT has completed the check successfully and then you can go ahead. I have never given any negative comments online as I am facing this for almost a month and now the situation is really out of control and patience label. I feel really sorry to say this on a online forum. Apologies for revealing the truth. Please do not copy paste the same reply on the same like you did on others message as well. Try to improve your system this will help others rather than copy pasting the same reply.

I accepted a job for an employer on August 10, 2023. The employer let me know they were using HireRight as the company to conduct my background check. The next day, Friday 08/11/2023 I got a few emails from HireRight asking to complete an application on their website. The time I spent completing the application, I kid you not, was 2 hours and 37 minutes! i understand that completing a background check is a thorough process but it should not have taken me almost 3 hours to complete a single application! Now, this is not the worst part. I provided all of the emails, addresses, and phone numbers of my recent employer which is a city agency, DOE. I had a terrible feeling in my gut that there would be an issue, so I requested an employment verification from the HR at DOE. The following Monday, HireRight sent me an email stating they were not able to verify my employment. I submitted the employment verification I got from HR at DOE that same day. Three days later HireRight sent me another email saying that the employment verification document I submitted did not meet their requirements. WHAT? That document stated the name of my employer (check), my full name (check) start date of employment (check) and end date of employment (check). It also had the phone number and the email address of the person who prepared the document at HR, should these incompetent people at HireRight want to contact. They also attached a document that listed all the acceptable forms for employment verification: W2, paystubs, tax returns...REALLY? How suspicious is that? Why would I provide my tax information and other financial info to people I believe are scammers? Also, I began with my current employer at DOE in 2011, do people at HieRight seriously believe it is reasonable for me to upload W2 forms or paystubs beginning all the way from 2011? SERIOUSLY? That means I will have to procure 12 W2, and 144 paystubs! This is insane! It is as if I am doing my own background check! Well, I submitted one W2 and one paystub. If this is not enough I will simply have to unaccept the offer, because it is not worth my time and my mental anguish. Also, they require that I submit a child abuser registry form from the state of NY. Excuse me? If I am a registered child abuser, this is your job to call up the state and verify that! Nope, I had to print the ridiculous document, complete AND notarize it! On my dime and my time! Notarize it? Don't those people know that notarizing document does not verify or prove anything! The person notarizing is simply saying, yes, I have so-and-so in front of me, and I have no clue as to the truthfulness of the document in front of me. But hey, I am here, so let me just sign and stamp it! What a total waste of my time! And do not get me started on contacting this useless company! I called a few times and was told the wait was over an hour. So I requested call back. Well, they did call back....6 hours later! And I got to speak to a woman from India. How nice was that? I had no clue what she was saying, because it was very loud where she was, most likely a sidewalk, because I could hear dogs barking, people arguing in a foreign language and other noise. Absolutely horrendous experience! I am set to begin my employment a week from today, but I feel like this company is working so hard to ruin my chances of getting employed with the employer. I wish there was an agency I could report HireRight for excessive and unrealistic demands!

Did not face any problem. I will be joining my new company on Monday.

Incredibly tedious to deal with and I would seriously re-consider applying to any company that I knew would put me through a HireRight check based on my experience. The initial forms they ask you to fill out lack clarity which leads to numerous rounds of follow up questions and requests for more documents. My application which really should have just been a formality has taken almost 3 weeks and counting. If someone says they have a University degree, ask for the certificate as proof straight away, not a week after the application was submitted, it seems so obvious. I also wasn't receiving any kind of notification when they wanted more information so I was having to check the website daily to see what the next problem was. I don't know what their business model is but it doesn't seem they are incentivised to get the checks done efficiently and quickly. As a company reading this, think carefully before you make one of your new employees first experiences with you such a negative one..

Shame on you! HIRERIGHT is a complete fraud of a company iv been waiting for a month for my criminal background im saddened to say I will not be starting with a great company because of them. Never have a hide a company do a background on me and can even get 1 criminal record that I have in my county smh. A whole month+ wasted because I'm still waiting iv been at 83% ridiculous sorry ass company!
