Headway provides the worst experience if you use them please keep an eye on the charges.. i do not recommend this company! I want to start by saying i love my therapist. she is wonderful at her job but due to headway i have had to stop my sessions because i refused to pay headway any more money after all the issues ive had with them since Dec 2023. i have dealth with inconsistent charges, Over charges, delay in responding, no concern for problem resolution. Working with headway customer after explaining the situation to one person they send me to a different representative who isnt able to help then they say i need a different person, ive been sent to 5 representatives provided proof, i spoke to my insurance who told me that headway was going to refund the over charge amount for 2 sessions i gave headway 3 weeks for the claim changes, no one contacted me. when i called they told me i didnt over pay due to the charge changes they put in the system i provided proof of EOB and receipts but instead of headway paying me back they stop replying. i informed my insurance of the situation they try to call headway but there is no direct line to contact headways financial or claims department. I do not recommend this company. Expensive, unorganized, no accountability, and lack or problems solving.

This is a review of Headway's billing practices and no way reflects on the therapists that use this service for billing and patient management. My partner has received therapy with her therapist who uses Headway for billing and the therapist is great. We normally pay our regular co-pay and didn't think much of anything, until recently. For many, many months, we paid the co-pay and all was well. All of a sudden, we started receiving bills for full service instead of paying the co-pays. We checked with our insurance and there were no changes in coverage and the therapist was still in-network. The only way to contact them is through their on-line ticketing system. There is no phone number to call to talk to a live person. We submitted a ticket asking for a correction as their charges were clearly a mistake. They said they looked into it and they confirmed just the co-pay. They closed the ticket and did not offer any refund. A few weeks later, we were billed for three more sessions at full price. We opened another ticket and they are "investigating." I have no hopes of receiving the money we are owed and will be initiating a chargeback from our bank. We are owed closed to $700 now. DO NOT use this company as you will be billed incorrectly and never get your money back. They are fraudulent and take advantage of people that are unaware.

I started seeing my therapist through Headway in March 2025. At that time, the platform and customer service told me I was in-network. After five sessions, I was informed that my insurance had actually been out-of-network since January 1, 2025 (which was three months before I started therapy). Because of this, I had to pay more than I had agreed upon with my insurance company. Headway apologized for the mistakes but did not refund the extra money I paid for the first five sessions. I had called my insurance company twice before starting therapy to check my coverage, but the billing still got mixed up. I understand that estimated costs can sometimes change. However, in my case, learning that I was out-of-network only after starting care was disappointing, as this information should have been communicated beforehand. As a client, you may face extra billing charges even after confirming with your insurance company, and your care could be interrupted because of billing issues. Speaking for myself, I had a very frustrating experience working with Headway. They do not have live support, and billing information might not always be correct.

My college-age daughter used this service because they are in-network with our insurance. They did not submit claims to insurance despite being an in-network provider. They refused to submit them after I pointed out the problem. This caused me to be overcharged and miss out on having the claim apply to my deductible. Then, once they finally submitted the claims, they charged above the max allowed by the insurance. I am doing everything I can to get them to fix it but they will not. Do not use this platform if you are hoping to use your insurance.

I do not recommend using Headway at all, especially if you intend to use insurance benefits. They charge you and claim they will reimburse you if charged incorrectly. I was charged four times incorrectly four months ago. When we’ve sought reconciliation, they claim they will not file with insurance until insurance tells them to — which makes no sense at all. They are keeping our money, and I believe their intent is to scam people.

Headway is AWFUL - they wrongfully billed an old insurance plan of mine for over a month and it took weeks for them to correct their mistake. They also charged me for a session that I was covered for and I have no idea when I'll be refunded for it. There's no number to call for customer service, so you're at the will of random emails. There's no urgency on their end and they are extremely unhelpful.
