Unable to use debit card for PayPal transactions.

Hi Joanna, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We understand how frustrating it can be when a payment method doesn’t work the way you expect, especially when you’re trying to move funds quickly. At this time, debit cards issued by Grasshopper Bank do not support instant transfers or payments on apps like PayPal, Venmo or Cash App due to historically higher fraud risks commonly associated with P2P (peer-to-peer) networks. However, you can still use these platforms by linking your bank account directly using your account and routing numbers. This enables standard, non-instant transfers, which allow more time for verification and processing before funds are moved. Debit card transactions settle immediately, leaving no window to intercept or reverse suspicious activity. While this approach may feel limiting at times, we take our role as your banking partner very seriously. It is never our intention to make banking more difficult or slow you down, which is why we are actively exploring new payment rails and technology to provide faster, safer ways to move money. Your feedback is invaluable in guiding how we evaluate and prioritize future enhancements, and when new instant payments functionality becomes available, clients like you will be the first to know. We look forward to hearing your thoughts. In the meantime, if you’d like help connecting your bank account, our Client Services team would be glad to assist. Only Forward, Grasshopper Bank
