Purchased a french door bottom freezer GE refrigerator from a big box store. Shortly after delivery, noticed the unit was leaning to the left - it was 1" out of plumb at the top! Left door very loudly squeaks when it is opened, and if you let go of the door it swings hard to the left. Right door wants to swing closed. Big box store has no interest after 48 hours. Called GE service. Was asked if it was cooling OK, to which I replied yes, but I am not satisfied. They sent out a repairman who determined within minutes that the unit was defective - seems carcas did not adhere to the skeleton correctly. He arranged a swap out. No more units available, so got one similar. New unit now does the same thing. Not looking forward to the hassle a second time. Lessons learned: (1) don't buy appliances from big box stores, no matter how "cheap" they seem to be - locally owned dealers seem to care about their reputations far more than big box stores, and (2) don't buy anything from GE as they don't seem to care about initial quality or the experience of their customers.

Very disappointed.
For this price, you'd expect something that'll function and look good for 10 years or more. At least 5, even if you're a severely pessimistic person!
But this refrigerator put GE on our "avoid" list from here on out when it comes to appliances. Where to start!
Materials:
Maybe all GE plastic components were being supplied from somewhere very unreliable during the first Covid year, but either way, they have no strength.
1.) The fridge arrived with a broken frame on one of the shelf units (about those frames!!! more on that later).
2.) A warranty claim got us a new one delivered... which arrived with a broken plastic frame!
3.) Within the first month of owning it, the drawer slide for the cheese drawer broke right where it holds the weight of the drawer. A technician was sent, who ordered a replacement drawer slide (more on him later!!!).
4.) One day, my wife pointed out the ice maker didn't seem to be making enough ice any more. When I looked, I found one of the "teeth" of the tray on the top had broken off, and chunks of ice were now getting stuck there and preventing the arms from rotating. Ice production stopped.
5.) The top of the door, made of the same plastic as everything else, has warped! How, I don't know. We don't store anything up there and it doesn't get hot. It has warped almost to the point of not hitting the button that tells the fridge the door is closed.
6.) Same plastic, next problem: the cheese drawer slides on the same white plastic, which is so cheap that each slide causes a little of the white plastic to turn into powder. We all have microplastics running through our veins... why not a little more? Goes good with cheddar!
7.) While cleaning the other day I discovered a crack in, yup, the same white plastic... I don't even remember now where I saw it, but I remember thinking, it's just a matter of time before that part fails.
Engineering:
1.) Obivously, the plastic!!! Why? To cut costs? This stuff is garbage.
2.) The shelves are wrapped in a plastic frame that is plastic-welded at the corners and impossible to remove. The plastic is not in any way glued or adhered to the glass. So, if you ever spill anything, cleaning it out is practically impossible. Poor design!
3.) GE engineered the ice-maker water filter so that it lasts about 6 months (max!), and costs 50 bucks. If you don't change it out, either it gets clogged (one theory I found on the internet), or the computer shuts down water flow (another such theory). Either way, water flow dies and then ice starts getting smaller. If a small piece of ice gets lodged between the arm that pushes it out and the white plastic (yup! same stuff I suppose!) tooth that guides it into the tray, the tooth might break. Then, ice will forever get stuck, even if you change the filter and water flow is restored. I think GE stands for "Greedy Engineering"!
4.) The upper door hinge is not adjustable, so if you want your door to close automatically based on gravity, you have to tilt the fridge a good half inch backwards at the top.
5.) The amount of space wasted in the freezer is crazy. We've had bottom freezers before that made a lot more sense.
Service:
1.) When the flimsy drawer holder broke within a month, and we couldn't even figure out how or when (see above), they sent a technician. When I showed him the drawer slides, he told me it was our own fault for putting too much stuff in the drawer. Guilty as charged! We put cheese in the cheese drawer and it broke! Shame on us. Gotta buy lighter cheeses I guess! It took an argument and a threat to call in a supervisor at GE immediately for him to place an order for a new one. What a jerk!
2.) When I figured out what caused the ice-maker to break, I called them on it. But the warranty period had passed (by about 6 months). The complaint was escalated, and they refused to send me a new ice-maker free of charge. They cost about 100. And that's why I'm writing this review.
Don't buy a GE product. They used to be great, but times have changed. Now they only care about their profit margins. Shame on you, GE!

How ridiculous is it that you cannot…
How ridiculous is it that you cannot easily disable the loud ass buzzer at the end of a cycle. Didn't they test this on a focus group? I'll never buy another GE product

Don't waste your time!
Don't waste your time!
Should have been a simple transaction of a new tumble dryer, no fitting or removal required, just delivery to my door. Ordered on the Wednesday and payed £20 for delivery on the Friday as this was the next available delivery day. Had a text on the Friday advising my delivery would arrive between 13:45 and 17:45 so I left work to meet the driver for delivery and started getting some of my backlog of laundry done in anticipation. 17:45 came and went with no sign of the delivery driver despite the tracking system advising he was a few stops away at around 16:00 and showing a location about 5 mins from my property. At around 17:40 the tracking system updated and advised that the driver was running behind schedule but that it would still be delivered between 18:55 and 19:55. I cancelled my Friday evening plans and waited in for the delivery, again the timeslot passed by with no delivery as per the comms. Then at 20:15 when there was still no sign of my delivery I recieved an email from geappliances.com stating that my delivery was not coming because there was a delay in the drivers route??? He was 5 mins from my house at 16:00... The email advised that I would now need to call geappliances.com to arrange a new appointment for delivery. Phoned up the next morning and explained to the call handler what had happened and how my time had been wasted, plans had been missed as a result and that I had piles of wet washing sat going musty that would now require rewashing at a further cost to me, irritating given the recent energy price hikes. His response was unempathetic and seemed he just wanted to get me off the phone asap. A new delivery date was set for the Sunday, again with no specific timeslot until the day, so further plans were cancelled which this time my children were extremely unhappy about. Fortunately this time the delivery arrived... but with a dent in the side of the appliance. Luckily it doesn't interfere with the workings of the appliance and due to the need to get my laundry done (kids uniforms etc) I would simply rather live with it than have to further deal with geappliances.com. Absolute nightmare transaction and cost me so much of my time and my family weekend. Wish I'd just payed the extra £50 for the costco offering of the superior model and not had my time wasted.

Absolutely the worst
Absolutely the worst. We haven't had a working fridge for over a month, we had to have all the parts shipped to our house and somehow validate them, and then GE keeps cancelling the service dates THE DAY OF THE SERVICES!! Not to mention the fridge is less than a year old. They refuse to replace it but may not have the parts to fix it, so they want us to wait for parts to be delivered, which may or may not resolve the issue. Appliances are junk, services are junk, experience is junk. If you can't fix it within a reasonable amount of time, which should not be a month, then you have to replace it if I'm under warranty - and I am! And customer service reps just keep disconnecting us or hanging up on us. I'm doing everything in my power to make sure everyone I know and haven't met yet knows about this.

virtually worthless warranty/customer support
During the pandemic I was faced with either buying a GE refrigerator or using block ice (thank you supply chain issues....). From the day the unit was plugged in it made various levels of noise when running which spanned an acceptable hum all the way to a deterimind hammering. I had repair techs out twice to no avail (both pronounced the problem "ice hitting the fan" and replaced the same gasket.
By the third time was the unit was out of warranty (it is a COLOSSAL hassel to call customer service and deal with the Bot you have to handle first so I procrastinated since the unit might be noisy but at least it worked). To my surprise someone handed me to "customer service" (despite the fact that this is the "selection" I had made with the Bot). THAT person was very nice, extended my warranty and sent a tech out. I thought my problems were over.
WRONG! The tech arrived, pronounced the problem to be "ice hitting the fan" and said the only cure was to turn off the fridge, open the freezer, take everything out and blow warm air into the compartment. I did that. For 5 hours I did that. The fridge section (the doors of which I obviously left closed) registered 46 degrees. The freezer compartment was dry as a bone.
I buttoned it back up...turned it on and got the worst banging I had ever heard. But after a while it went to a hum so foolishly I thought we had prevailed...DUMB ME! THE UNIT IS RIGHT BACK TO WHERE WE STARTED...WHEN IT RUNS IT EMITS ANYTHING FROM A HUM TO A VERY LOUD CLATTER.
So back to GE I went. Isat on hold for 1.5 hours and finally spoke to someone. She found my records and asked if she could take a moment to review them. She put me on hold, the muzak played and I wasted another 35 minutes of my life only to suddenly get the Bot saying that everyone was very busy, that it would be a very long time before they could talk to me but to save me unnecessary headache I could have them call me back. Having had the dubious honor of using this system before I punched the appropriate number.
I HAVE NOW BEEN WAITING 1 HOUR AND 20 MINUTES FOR A CALL BACK. You might think that the person who apparently got disconnected from me the first time (and in saying that I am being generous...)could have called since she had my number...you would think wrong. I have wasted the better part of 4 hours of my life. My unit still doesnt work and I dont even have an appointment for a service tech to come out......DO NOT BUY A GE APPLIANCE.

I guess you can't get any lower than 1…
I guess you can't get any lower than 1 star, but we were setting up a warrantee repair on a dishwasher that is already not working when the GE rep was so rude, talking down to me and talking over me,
if you can't talk to people in a respectful way, you should not be in customer service.
