I wonder what part of buying something new are first impressions. Here are mine: 1. The box arrived crushed & was coming apart. The box noted the size but not the width. In fact, I do not believe I can verify the width anywhere recorded (that is, not inside the shoes either). 2. The shoes inside were not separated by, say, a tissue or other material to keep them from rubbing friction against each other. 3. The laces are tied in an unusual configuration, one that does not work for me. I re-laced. 4. The laces are too short & I have yet to buy the correct length, so I cannot really give a "walking" review.

Gatsbyshoes caught my eye with their fun style at a discounted price. I suspect their "sale" price is a gimmick. I bought a pair each of their shoes and gel inserts to support a company that makes large shoe sizes. The shoes took a little over a week to arrive, with the shipping information indicating separate packages for the shoes and gel insoles. So, I was surprised that they both arrived in one plastic-wrapped cheap cardboard shoebox. When the plastic was cut away and the shoebox opened, the contents smelled strongly of VOCs, not the smell of leather. The shoes look as nice as, or perhaps better than, advertised. Their comfort and fit is decent. They are no match for my quality American and Italian shoes, but they are okay for what they are: neither shoes nor sneakers. We'll see how they hold up. Most telling about these shoes is the absence of any branding, logo, or imprint. It is clear that Gatsbyshoes is on a shoestring budget. Their phone answers with a brief recorded message of an email address. Their email support representative has her hands full. Their return policy is challenging enough to either discourage returns or force errors allowing them to refuse returns. If you order from them, I hope you find the fit and style of the shoes acceptable.

I got the shoes and they are great! Have already received several compliments at work and a few coworkers may purchase some soon. My only issue was how long to took to receive them. From time of order to on my doorstep was 3 weeks. I do not remember anything stating it would take that long. For the website stating "lighting fast" shipping, that was not really the case. Oh, and get the supplemental insoles!

I ordered the shoes and love them. Only concern is if you order and they will not be readily available (shipping from China warehouse in my case) Would like to have known that before I finalized my order. I ordered them for a business trade show. When tracker was showing the order would not be received for weeks, I went out to a store and purchased different brand shoes. two days before my trip the shoes arrived. Meanwhile I had worn the replacements so they would be broken in for the trip. I did bring my Gatsbys to the trip and loved them. Just try to fix the order system please. (for when I go to buy another pair)
