We rented an RV from South Amboy New…
We rented an RV from South Amboy New Jersey, office was very nice and ppl who work there were also nice. The RV that we rented to go to Florida and back was nice, on the way there we didn’t use the generator to cool off the RV bc the temperature was fine, going back home was a disaster. We had a 3 year old toddler with us, the RV was so hot that the back bedroom wasn’t in use bc of the heat, the only thing that worked was an AC but it didn’t cool off the whole RV just the driver and passenger seats were ok. We called the road assistance 3 times on the way back, they told us what to do, we followed directions but the generator wasn’t working. They said they tried to located a technician on our road but no one was available, bc it was a weekend, which is ridiculous- it says 24 hrs road assistance, so they called us back when we were already back in NJ, and when we came and told them the story they offered us 147$ refund like wow that’s very rude for the whole way going back from Florida in a hot RV, couldn’t even warm the food in microwave for a child bc microwave works from a generator. I will never rent from them again, and don’t recommend it to anyone

Terrible Rental Experience!
Terrible Rental Experience!
Long story short: I flew 6,000 miles only to spend two days fixing their problems. The RV was poorly maintained, and the compensation was an insult—not even enough to cover the fuel I used to help them fix their own vehicle, not to mention the cost of one rental day.
Avoid at all costs, And know the full story:
I rented an RV from El Monte RV Los Angeles, and it was a disaster.
On the second night, while staying at a high-altitude and cold area, the furnace system failed. We froze through the night—my wife is pregnant, and we had our 4.5-year-old daughter with us.
Their solution? Drive to the nearest city (a 150-mile round trip) to buy space heaters. We lost an entire day of our trip, only to find out the RV’s electrical system couldn’t support two heaters.
The next day, we were sent to another city, 100 miles off route, to get the furnace repaired. We spent six hours in a garage, and the issue still wasn’t fully resolved.
Eventually, we gave up on visiting national parks and changed our route to lower, warmer areas just to make it through the rest of the trip.
There were other issues too—water leaks and a bathroom door that couldn’t be opened from the inside. Imagine a 4.5-year-old child trapped in the bathroom until we managed to get her out.
When I returned the RV, they refunded the cost of the heaters (which I left with them), gave me a $171 refund (not even enough to cover one rental day), and waived the excess mileage—which doesn’t even come close to the extra miles I had to drive to fix their RV.
After multiple conversations, they told me: “That’s our policy. The RV is rented as-is.”
And that’s the compensation.
So, be careful…

Our experience was horrible.
Our experience was horrible.
1. You go to check-out and it takes you more than 3 hours to get out of there. They take their time very calmly and that leaves you completely exhausted.
2. Even if you have made the purchase online, when you get there they sell you many more services.
3. The same thing happened at check-out. We were there for more than 4 hours waiting for them to tell us when we had to pay for a scratch we made on the RV. After waiting 4 hours, they charged us $3200 for a pilot that costs $4 in the official store and a cover that costs $26. The door frame was bent, and instead of replacing it, due to company policy they had to charge us for the entire door... Intolerable.
I sincerely believe that their business is not the RVs, but charging for any damage they have. I don't think it's right, and I will never repeat with this company. I don't recommend it.

Price gouging
Price gouging. When we returned our RV this week, the employee said, " good thing you booked when you did, it's now $1,000.00 per day because of the fires!" ( we paid $139.00 per day.) Although we were not affected by the fires, we were heartbroken for the people trying to rent from this LA based company.

Rented an RV in San Diego El Monte
Rented an RV in Vegas from El Monte a few years ago - everything was perfect! Rented an RV in San Diego from El Monte not so good. RV had many issues that we were unaware until we needed to hook up the gray tank / black tank. Valve was broke in toilet so always had a smell inside the RV. Windshield wipers were not the correct wipers so when we turned them off they fell off. We had to pull over and tape them on! Once we returned the RV they really didn't seem too concerned or even care about the experience we had. My husband asked for a little compensation back and they waved the fee to refill the propane - nice gester but wasn't worth the aggrevation we had to go through!
