Catastrophic rental, avoid at all costs!
Never again. Avoid at all costs. We rented an RV (via Motorhome Republic / El Monte RV, in Aug 2025. The vehicle was advertised as a 2024 model — but a VIN check proves it is a 2022 model. That is false advertising.
The RV was in catastrophic condition: broken and detached armrests, ripped upholstery, torn panels, exterior lockers that don’t lock (we couldn’t secure our belongings), filthy dishes and outdoor furniture, defective outlets, non-working tank indicators, and automatic leveling that practically never worked. The central A/C died after three days; repairs failed and we were forced to pay for three motel nights (USD 628) because it was impossible to sleep in the RV. We found used earplugs and debris on the floor at pick-up.
We filed detailed complaints (with photos and emails) without receiving compensation.
This company’s advertising is misleading and the equipment provided is unacceptable. We strongly advise all travelers to avoid Motorhome Republic / El Monte RV for rentals — do not trust the model year or the photos; inspect, verify the VIN, and demand written proof before driving away.
ANSWER TO YOUR REPLY:
Thank you for your public reply, but it feels entirely generic and disconnected from the real situation. We have already sent three detailed emails (Aug 18, Sep 3 and Sep 23) with full photo evidence, VIN verification proving the RV was a 2022 model instead of the advertised 2024, and proof of the A/C failure after only three days, the filthy condition of the vehicle, and its overall poor state.
To date, no one has ever replied or followed up, neither from your “customer care” address nor from Motorhome Republic. If you truly wish to resolve this matter rather than issue standard apologies, please contact me directly and reference Reservation IM44549012-HXO861187/1.
If your team sincerely intends to fix this situation.

Disappointing Experience
Disappointing Experience - Multiple Issues from Start to Finish
We rented an RV from El Monte RV in Chicago and unfortunately encountered numerous problems throughout our experience.
Delayed Pickup
We arranged pickup for 1:00 PM after our flight, but the RV wasn't ready when we arrived. We waited 1-2 hours while they prepared the vehicle and processed our contract.
Payment Issues
Despite booking and paying online with my Chase credit card, the facility refused to accept it at pickup because the card numbers aren't printed on the card itself (standard for Chase cards). Even though I had all the information on my phone app, they wouldn't accept this. I was forced to use my debit card instead, which meant losing the protection benefits of paying by credit card.
RV Condition Issues
Waste tanks were NOT empty - We discovered this at our first site, which had no dump facilities. We had to drive off-site to a local KOA and pay $140 to empty tanks that should have been empty when we collected the vehicle.
Water tanks were NOT full - I would expect this to be standard when picking up any RV.
Poor condition for age - Despite their claim that RVs are less than 2 years old, ours had numerous bumps, scratches, broken items, and significant wear and tear.
Missing items - We ordered camping chairs, but they emailed us after we'd left to say they forgot to include them.
Return Process
Returning the RV was equally time-consuming. Processing took a long time, and they couldn't even process the deposit refund to my card directly - they had to call someone else, and we had to wait before we could sign off and leave.
Overall
Given the price we paid, this level of service is unacceptable. From delayed pickup and payment complications to an improperly prepared RV and time-consuming return process, nearly every aspect of our rental was problematic. I expected much better from a company of this size.
Response from El Monte RVOct 28, 2025
Thank you for your feedback. We're very sorry for the inconvenience you experienced.
We understand the frustration with the Chase card issue and are reviewing our payment policies to better support digital formats. The RV should have had empty waste tanks and full water tanks at pickup—this was a clear oversight, and we’re investigating how it happened.
We also regret the condition of the RV and the missing camping chairs. Your comments help us improve our inspection and packing processes. Lastly, we apologize for the delays during return and refund processing—we’re working to streamline this.
Please feel free to reach out to [email protected] if you'd like to discuss further. We appreciate your feedback and hope to make things right.

we hired a class A RV for 7 days in 110…
we hired a class A RV for 7 days in 110 degree heat mid west. Generator would not work when outside temp was over 80 degrees which meant we had no AC at all in the RV. Could not sleep or travel in it. El Monte will not help you. They will hang you out to dry and keep all of your money. They will offer a measly 100 bucks compensation. we spent $4000 on airbnb absolute rubbish company
Response from El Monte RVOct 28, 2025
Thank you for sharing your experience, and we’re truly sorry for the discomfort and frustration you endured during your trip.
A malfunctioning generator in extreme heat is unacceptable, especially when it impacts basic comfort like air conditioning. We understand how this affected your ability to travel and rest, and we regret that our support did not meet your expectations.
We’re reviewing this case internally to ensure better service and accountability moving forward. If you'd like to discuss this further, please reach out to us at [email protected].

• Power outlet outside does not work
• Power outlet kitchen does not work
• TV outside does not work (38 USD for long cable)
• TV living room does not work
• Multimedia Display drivers cabin falls out when road gets a little bumpy
• Arm bench co-driver is not fix
• Black water hose looses water and had to be fixed with tape (10 USD)
• Toilet flush was stucked regularly even we used RV paper only (30 USD for cleaning hardware)
• Water hose dropped water at outside water inlet
• Automatic balancing mode works not sufficient
• Interior Design: Folie looses at sliding door
• Booked kitchen stuff was nig complete
• Curtain to dark drivers cabin looses at some points
• Oven is dirty.
