Our town just refused to approve zoning changes for a project by DRH after two meetings. Good! Their presentation was even worse than the attitudes of the presenters. They didn't address any questions about their reputation and reading their reviews it's easy to see why. Do Not do business with them because whether you're an individual, a contractor or a town, they will not have your best interests at heart. Their reputation preceds them and not in a good way. It's definitely going to be ALL ABOUT THEM and their profits. Just Say No to D R Horton!

Worst builder on earth
Worst builder on earth. If I could give 0 stars on this site I definitely would. Multiple issues and I’ve only been in my home for 4 months now. Many doorknobs coming off the doors, doors unaligned and hard to close/lock, garage issues…. These houses are cheap and a waste of anyone’s hard earned money. If you’re deciding between a dr Horton home or someone else, please go with the other option. It can’t be any worse than these cheap pieces of crap they are selling people

Low quality builder
This builder uses the lowest quality possible and honestly I don’t know how some of their things make it through inspections. We experienced approximately 30 warranty issues in our first year and honestly could have done more. Major issues include structural unevenness in our framing and dryer ducts left unattached to exterior outlets. Look for a local company who cares about its customers.

Very cheap
Very cheap, shoddy construction. They build homes on concrete pads that are not fully cured. Siding has a tendency to buckle and fall off.

We had a seamless closing today
We had a seamless closing today. We did a punch list one month ahead of closing so everything could be addressed prior to closing. All of our communications were respondrd to in a timely manner. All items were addressed as promised. Christian the superintendent was very professional. Crystal, the sales agent was equally professional. We have had no issues with DR Horton at all. The home is a quality build. We have a beautiful home in the Lakes, an unincorporated area of MB that is really more like Murrells Inlet as it butts up to MI. We will have a f/u walk through in 14 days with Christian, then up to a year for any little thing that may come up that we will submit through the DR Horton website. Large items are warrantied for 10 years. I'm sorry, but some of these reviews are so ridiculous. Problems arise with subcontractors and DR Horton doesn't always have control over employees outside of their organization. All they can do is stop using them and locate others who do the same type of work to get the process complete for the future owner. Some people need to educate themselves on the trades and the level of coordination that goes into getting a home built. If they get behind in one phase, it's a huge chain reaction on the entire build out. So many things can happen, weather, financing falling through, inability to get products ordered, ordering something that comes in busted or some crappy subcontractor you have to part ways with, waiting on inspectors etc. BTW, no new house is perfect, that includes track or custom builds. Resale homes can be even worse, depending on the age of the home and how it was maintained and whatever jackleg people came in and possibly worked on the home. Purchasing a home new or resale is not for the faint of heart. They all come with the share of their problems. Honest errors and oversights happen, people are human. Negligence, being intentional and avoidance are all a different scenario and 100% we have not seen any of that with DR Horton. Busy, yes, blowing people off, no. Quality homes, yes. Do they have to contend with shady subs at times, of course. Keep it in perspective people.

One of DR Hortons terrible homes And hopefully in a few years, we can sell this home!
I’m going to make this short and brief as I can. We have only lived in our home three months. Our home was built very sloppy! Our home still needs the stucco to be finished, the outlets are crooked, paint on the walls seems to be done like they were in a hurry especially around the outlets and there seems to be some dings around the walls like where they put in the stove. I can go on and on, but I will cut it short right there. Those are the things that stand out
If I had the chance to shop for homes again, it definitely wouldn’t be in the area that I’m in!
I would not recommend DR Horton!
Not impressed at all!!

Won’t ever use this builder again
Won’t ever use this builder again, house is 2.5 years old and already having leaks from either the window or the roof. We can’t figure out where it’s coming from but the living room wall now is wet and growing black mold. We thought by buying new construction we wouldn’t have to worry about these kinds of issues for years. We emailed the builder and they don’t to do nothing about it, they said we are past the warranty . Never saw a builder not stand behind their own work. This wasn’t a cheap house, it’s 2 stories and 5 bedrooms. After talking to a few other neighbors they were having similar issues. I have a house that is from the 1950s and have never had a major issue like I do with a new build! Never again with this company! I could see if the house was 10-20 years old but 2.5 ?

Our home was built by Riggins but they…
Our home was built by Riggins but they were purchased by DH Horton during the builders warranty period. Minor problems were fixed but a major problem with the heating and cooling system was never made right. They are not people of honor. I would not trust them. You will see multiple lawsuits have been filed against them in several states.
