Alright
I gave DR Horton 3 stars because my experience has been mixed. While I do like my home and some issues were eventually addressed, the process was far more frustrating than it should have been. The home buying process started off difficult, as I had to go through three loan officers before finally receiving the help needed to qualify. I felt one loan officer was not helpful and made the process harder instead of easier. After moving in, I experienced several issues with the home that required repeated follow-up, including problems with the shower, bedroom doors, sliding glass door, bathroom electrical/light issues, and washer/dryer installation. The shower issue was especially frustrating because I was told the problem was related to the city water, the water softener system, and even the shower head, when the actual issue ended up being the shower cartridge/mixing valve needing adjustment. I was also told that because I had a water softener installed, I could be responsible for plumbing costs if I hired a plumber, even though the problem existed beforehand. In addition, there were quality-control concerns that I did not even report, including unpainted/poorly finished trim at the garage entrance, a threshold near the sliding glass door that is not properly secured, and missing air vent filters. Overall, while some concerns were eventually resolved and I appreciate that, I feel there were too many preventable issues, too much back-and-forth, and too much time spent advocating for repairs and answers. For those reasons, I believe a 3-star rating is fair.
