I'm so disappointed and upset with the poor workmanship of the home. The window in our dining room is not centered in the wall. The doorway entry of our butler pantry is lopsided, 3/4 inch longer on one side than the other! Our hand rail on the stars is already detaching from the wall and we've only lived there for a month. Our front door and garage door weren't sealed properly and we moved into a home infested with mice and crickets! When we brought it up to our contractor the response was, well sorry pest control isn't included in the warranty. Well, if you had sealed our house properly we wouldn't have this issue to begin with. Right away paint, grout, and tile started chipping away. There's small holes in the dry wall and our tub also has a chip! And now the drawers in our kitchen are falling apart. We submitted warranty requests to address some of these concerns (including our key not working in our garage door and a broken window in one of the bedrooms) at the end of January and still haven't received a response.

After seeing multiple articles on this builder and reading all of the horrible reviews I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO glad I did not pursue a contract with D R Horton!!!!!!!!!!!!! BUYERS BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! READ UP ON THIS COMPANY FIRST!!

Everything about buying a home from Dr. Horton was a horrible experience! Interior and exterior work was done half assed, had to tell them on three different occasions to re-do there work. To top it off the half assed work caused water damage in the interior of the home which caused a whole week and a half of repairs and furthered me to be moving my furniture in. Do not recommend by from these guys, not worth the money nor time!

Bait and switch. Don’t believe what you see on the model home because that’s not what you’re gonna get. You will get a house with substandard materials and shoddy craftsmanship. Their warranty is a scam! It will give you a false sense of security. But when a problem arise they will come up with a bunch of excuses and lies as to why it is not their responsibility! I literally had to clean my house upon moving in as it was so dirty! There were drill bits and staples on the carpet that almost injured my family! If I had to mention every issue I might have a heart attack right now. It’s just one issue after another and the big one was this recent ice storm. A good part of the community experienced a leak! We called them asap and there were already 28 people that called ahead of us with the same issue! I have a 50 year old home that didn’t have this problem and none of the people I know have mentioned that they’ve had this issue! It just goes to show that there is something terribly wrong with how these houses are built and designed! Their guys came in just to say they wont cover it because it was due to ice dams and it was an act of nature! Upon research I found that ice dams form due to lack of insulation and poor ventilation! And guess who is responsible for that? The builder! There wouldn’t be ice dams if they know what they’re doing! The part that hurts the most? We’ll be in the same predicament each time something like this happens if the root cause is not addressed! If you’re considering purchasing a home with them. Consider this a caution! It will suck the life out of you!

Let me preface this review, by first stating that I have contacted the corporate office 3 times by phone, and yet, no movement on the items listed for repair. Firstly, I was rushed through my final walk through by a stern, ridiculous male, that bullied his way through every area I noticed needed adjusted. He had a comment and excuse for why there were simple issues not already addressed (stucco clearly not patched, bugs littered throughout the house, dents in the walls, cabinets with dents, grout all over baseboards, etc.). Among the running and growing list of items yet unresolved (I closed on my house on 9/31/22), there’s water damage underneath my sink, grout along all baseboards of my 1600 sq ft house, grout holes, fire door to my garage that was installed incorrectly (top bolt doesn’t close, in addition, my neighbors have a keypad lock on theirs, so yet another issue to address one of these days..), the garage door is smaller than the original size, all doors have damage to ALL corners, door hinges have putty sloppily placed on due to inadequate measurements when installing, cabinets that have soft close doors, in which many don’t, shower door is still unstable after adjustment, I could go on and on. I paid a huge chunk of change for this house, it’s new, it’s my first home, I specifically looked for a new build to avoid the chaos of repairs, and here I am. My driveway needs to be re-poured for the second time, due to the expansion joint cracking and buckling (among most of my neighbors now on their second pour as well). Perhaps, one of the most frustrating issues, is that there’s ZERO accountability and ZERO quality control. If a technician or professional is sent to my house, and has no clue what they are there for, and I can’t communicate with them in English, there’s a significant breakdown in this company. This is beyond ridiculous. I wish I could tell you how many times a trade has been sent back and returned MULTIPLE times without solving the initial issue AND damaging my walls or property while “fixing” the issues. This is a disgrace, shame on you Dr Horton. You all should be ashamed on yourselves for hiring such ignorant, low bidding workers, to “fix” issues for us homeowners. I challenge anyone who is looking to buy from Dr-go speak to neighbors-I bet any money they will tell you to run and never look back. I’m disgusted and fed up. Nest step is the BBB. Maybe someone will listen and act before this company takes itself down.

The worst home builder. I regret to be a DRhorton owner. Very poor supervision during construction and chip materials contribute to many defects. I do not recommend buying a home from this builder and I do not recommend this builder to my clients. Several roof problems are common in my neighbor. My home 3 roof leaks since 2016, among other problems

Dont do it. I thought oh because I am paying a hefty price for a home they would know better. I too ignored the bad reviews only to find out from day one there has been issues one after the other. Dont do it. I am now hoping my home doesnt fall apart all together. Beside all the other issues, HVAC system Apex is down and using the "emergency electrical part" because the builder did not do quality control on it prior to moving in. In fact, on the day of move in the builder Skylar handed me the keys and two guys were huddled over the thermostat and I found it strange that I did not have one of them ask me "hey would you like to learn how to operate this." They were both playing around with it. Of which leads me to believe they knew there was a problem from the beginning and just ignored it. The smart haven guy brought it to my attention because he could not make a connection with it. Therefore, he stated to me "we havent seen this problem before" "we usually see the garage chip is missing." I said, to myself just my luck when I paid well over 600K for a home this is what I receive from DR Horton problems! Listen to your gut feeling and bad reviews. I should have! Keep in mind, the shortage of construction workers plays here so they are not going to fire or control workmanship when there are lack of employees to hire....
