The hold times are absolutely ridiculous. Every Cigna response to a complaint here is to email them. How about providing an alternative phone number so we can reach a human being without being on hold all day or all night? How about offering the customers on hold the option of getting a call back? Anything would be better than what Cigna has now.

I am declining my employer's health plan because it is Cigna.
Never bothered to call customer service.
I have been to the web site to locate “in-network” doctors. After making an appointment, I often get a call back notifying me that they are not “in-network”. I have gone to specialist three times. All three times I learned that the specialist was either not “in-network” or “not covered”. I gave up. I suppose Cigna is happy with that.
The prescription deductibles are often higher than the cash price of many of the prescriptions, so I often pay cash for my prescriptions. I am sure Cigna is OK with that.
Cigna also shares your information with partners such as “IdentityForce” and “Recovery One”. No, they do not ask for permission before doing so. The customer finds out when the party starts calling, texting, and emailing. It took almost three months to get “Recovery One” to stop calling me, asking if I wanted physical therapy for my surgery. I guess they do not know that eye surgery does not require physical therapy. I am surprised they did not call me asking if I wanted physical therapy after I had a broken tooth fixed.
Oh, and just to let you know, I paid cash for both surgeries myself because Cigna figured out how limit their liability to almost nothing. Also know that I was legally blind before I had YAG laser eye surgery to restore my vision (no not Lasik).
Being that I have to pay cash anyway, and Cigna does not respect my privacy, I have elected to opt-out of my employer’s health plan this spring when the open enrollment period begins. Why am I paying Cigna $500 a month, and getting almost nothing for it? Public, and non-profit healthcare are readily available in my town. Furthermore, many private providers have special pricing for the uninsured if you bother to ask for it, and you pay cash on the day of the service. I earn a middle class salary, so paying cash is not a problem.

Terrible
Terrible, uninformed staff. I called for instructions to where should the doctor send the script to get a specialty formula (alimentum) for my baby which is covered by medical benefits and non of the agents knew how to proceed, they have been sending me everywhere for the past 10 days. It is so frustrating shame on them to make people go through so much stress because of their incompetence.

Poor Choice for Medicare Part D
I recently had to get a new Medicare Part D plan as Cigna purchased Express Rx. I was initally automatically signed up for their most expensive plan which did not improve my Rx costs in any way. So during Open Enrollment I changed to a more affordable plan. I was told my Express Rx account would no longer work, but would still process mail order prescriptions. I was then told to make a Cigna account to manage my medications. When I tried to use this account my generic drugs were changed to brand name with no way for me to change them. So I called customer service. I got a woman who was very difficult to understand. She did not seem to understand my questions which I repeated over and over. In the end she told me I have to contact Express Rx to refill my medications but that I have to make a new account with them. When I tried to do this I was blocked because they have my old account still active. I used my old account and was able to get in without making a new account. I think I spend well over an hour on the phone, both waiting for a rep, explaining my questions over and over and then being given incorrect information. She was about to pass me off to my Cigna web assistance when she could not answer my questions.
I will not be renewing with Cigna next year during Open Enrollment. 1st experience and most unhelpful and unpleasant.

Horrible
Horrible. They answer the phone quickly from my experience but if I speak to 5 different people I get 5 different conflicting answers on the same topic, and then people promise they will call me back the next day to try and resolve, and no one ever calls back. How many times do you have to call to get a clear, correct answer and get issues resolved?

Horrible Horrible Customer service
Horrible Horrible Customer service. No matter what time I call, I remain waiting on the line for hours and no one respond. A recorded messages keep coming on that says "Your call is important to us; stay on the line and your call will be answered in te order received." No matter what time I call, I stay waiting for hours and they just do not answer... I finally hang up and I am unable to talk to any representative. This is the worst service I have ever experienced. This is why I decided to go ahead and share it with everybody.

Trying to cancel an uneeded Medicare Part D
Trying to cancel an uneeded Medicare part D.
Called and waited 3.5 hours until someone picked up. Person had no suggestions and could not even locate policy. Called back two days later and waited 2.4 hours. Person was almost incomprehensible but said she could help by doing a 3 way with Medicare. She contacted Medicare, the Medicare representative answered, and she hung up.
Incompetent phone persons, extremely long wait times, essentially no customer service. This is clearly their policy to make customer contacts so painful that one doesn't even try.
Filed a complaint with Medicare. The representative seemed to be familiar with Cigna's issues.
