It's not health insurance, it is a racket. It is borderline fraudulent and what they do should be illegal. Every single time a provider tells me my insurance covers it, Months later I get a bill in the mail from the providers for thousands of dollars. Last one was for over $5000. My insurance covers it? Covers what? Not much of anything at all. Deny, deny, deny! If I would not have been told that my insurance covered it, I would have DENIED getting what I had done. I just need to figure out who I need to sue now. The provider for saying that my insurance covered it or Cigna for telling the provider they covered it. Definitely going to be speaking with the Congressman from my district as well as the Senators from my state. I suggest anyone reading this with similar issues do the same. Something needs to be done about this. The employer who provides our coverage is already looking into alternatives due to the massive amount of complaints from the staff. Maybe time to do a little research and get an op-ed published to some financial news publishers. The only thing they obviously care about is their bottom-line. Cigna continue to be extra-ordinarily difficult and unethical. I recently had a gastroscopy - they reimbursed 90% of the procedure but denied reimbursement of the pre-gastroscopy consultation which the specialist requires. I have found one has to fight them on almost every bill - it is a battle of attrition - shame them first, then threaten them with lawyers, then they finally reimburse which is what they should have done in the first place.

It is impossible to get off their mail marketing list. I have never done business with them but I get marketing mailings every month. Their sites are all geared to policy members and sales agents. No way to contact them.

All good, until you need an ambulance for an emergency and then they just turn their backs! Not willing to help when you need them the most. Really disappointing. What’s the point of paying such a huge premium if I can’t even make a call to save my life without being afraid to get charged thousands?

Cigna is complete trash insurance. Before I got my orthodontics done I called them to ask if my treatment and place of service was covered. I WAS told yes but that they don't pay the 50% intill my thing was paid in full to then go and summit it to be reimbursed my benefits coverage. So I now paid off the whole thing I call them to see how to now summit my claim for my money back for their part. They tell me it's doesn't qualify now that only metal braces do which makes no sense being that people use Invisalign nowadays more than metal braces and I don't see how that changes the fact that it was used for Orthodontics purposes to straighten teeth. They are a joke and rip off also false advertising for sure. They apparently don't cover anything they just collect your money. I wouldn't tell anybody to use them.

I would like to start by saying I would give them a 0 if that score was even possible. I have spent several hours trying to get a PA approved for a patient. This is BY FAR THE WORST company to deal with. They send you through a series of representatives that know NOTHING about the medical field let alone the medication needed for the patient. My patient is repeatedly told they will cover it, they only need some documentation from the doctor's office (us). I faxed them the required information ON THEIR SPECIFIC forms to the number on that form. The patient was contacted that more information was needed. So I call the 800-882-4462 number. I go through the series of prompts and automated messages to finally reach a live representative. Where I am informed that no documentation was received. I then inform them the patient was in contact with a representative that verified my documents were in fact received. I am told again (you can tell this is being read from a script) that she is sorry for the inconvenience but I can re-fax the document to the fax number on the forms. I do so. Follow up the next day to go through this whole process again. A series of prompts and scripts being read. No they did not receive the docs, I can fax it to the number on forms. By now I am beyond frustrated AND this is what they do. They frustrate people enough that they get tired and pay a lot of money for a medication OR go without. This is CRIMINAL. It is not about the HEALTH or WELLBEING of the patient. SO I FINALLY actually manage to get a case #. YOU would think that I could provide that number (that should have all the information I repeatedly provided the numerous times I called in) but NO. I have to go the ENTIRE process over and over just to talk to someone. I asked (logically) if there is a case manager assigned to this case and I would like his/her direct contact number. No I have to go through this insane system each time I call in. There are no case managers (apparently other insurance companies provide them) and no direct lines of communication. DO NOT USE THIS INSURANCE COMPANY.

I am writing this review to express my deep dissatisfaction with the representatives provided by Cigna Dental. My recent experiences with their support team have been nothing short of frustrating and disappointing. First and foremost, the wait times are excessively long. I have had to spend upwards of 2 hr on hold before even getting to speak with a supervisor . This is unacceptable, especially considering that the issues I needed assistance with were quite urgent. When I finally managed to speak with the supervisor, she was unhelpful and seemed uninterested in resolving my problems. I had questions about my claim processing, but the she lacked the necessary knowledge and gave me conflicting information. This inconsistency only added to my confusion and frustration. I was promised a follow-up call or email to provide additional information or updates on my claims. Unfortunately, these follow-ups never materialized. It is incredibly disheartening to feel ignored and neglected as a customer.
