Had Bungalow recommended to me by a friend. Great way to find housing in a new city, especially as someone who lived several thousand miles and multiple time zones away. Fair warning to non-us citizens, if you don’t have a credit score built up in the states you will need to either purchase default insurance or have someone with a good credit score guarantee your lease

Reduction of house cleanings without notice, unreliable maintanence, cheaply remodeled housing, unhelpful csm and sales reps, while trapping the user in a termination fee that is 3x the monthly rent. The company knows how contracts can actually play out, the person who signs does not

I got rushed into signing my lease a week ago, which was not a great start, but pretty standard practice in the sales world, so I didn't think much of it. Next, my roommates started a group text with me and I came to realize that the place was not as advertised. The roommates warned me that the place was much smaller than expected, and I also found out that Bungalow was not a place for "young professionals" as advertised. Potential new roommates included literally anybody in need of a home, including people as young as 18 and potential drug addicts or criminals. I don't think Bungalow does any sort of background check. Bungalow also advertises that their "Meet & Greet" chat allows you to meet and approve or deny a new roommate. As it turned out, the chat doesn't work well and it is nearly impossible to deny a roommate. So you are still effectively forced to live with roommates who may be dangerous. My move-in date is still 2 weeks away and I am in the process of cancelling the lease, and it seems that Bungalow is going to try to take me for as much money as they can even though they will likely fill the room before my lease even starts. Shady practices all around. DO NOT SIGN WITH BUNGALOW!

Very responsive even through the weekend and fast process. India was so nice and provided excellent service.

Damien made me feel rushed to make a decision on a lease, and although he did his best to answer my questions, I felt like he was trying to just get me through the system: he did not offer to connect me to my new roommates, remind/offer me about the one-month-free rent promotion (I had to keep inquiring about it), inform me about fees regarding move-in/whatever else I paid, or volunteer any other information beyond paying for the lease agreement. Although polite, I felt the service provided was just to get done with me as soon as possible.

DO NOT RENT WITH BUNGALOW! This is a massive scam. They do not do a quality background check on possible residents. The customer support staff is not knowledgeable of policies or helpful and that’s IF you can get someone to respond - which is almost impossible. I have also experienced Bungalow offering gifts and reward for leaving positive reviews online, which is against BBB practices. Currently, they have homes all over Dallas, even though they are only a licensed broker in Harris and Tarrant County. They advertise that they are a private community of young professionals. In their shared homes, they advertise that you’re allowed to set your roommate preferences and pick out your roommates but once you are moved in, they take that privilege away and force you to live with strangers that you have never met or talked to you before. The first time they did this to me, the person that moved in with a mentally unstable drug user that had to be forcefully removed from the home. I am stuck in a lease. I am a single female, and now Bungalow is moving into older men into my house that I have never talked to or met and it terrifies me Bungalow is not sympathetic, they do not care about tenant safety, and any complaints or concerns that my roommates and I have expressed they have ignored. I just hope that this review can help someone else. DO NOT RENT WITH BUNGALOW!!!!

Awful company. They aren't even registered in some of the cities to be renting out rooms. The homes are built quickly and done poorly with multiple issues including AC, mold, leaks, locks, roaches, gaps in walls, sealed shut windows etc. The roommate policy is a bit of a nightmare. They will ask you to list your house preferences, send you multiple people who do not match your criteria and then punish you and retract your access from deciding who can room with you. Multiple hidden fees. Not even sure what the service fee is for when cleaning and utilities are extra. You think you're saving money and it ends up being about the same amount as paying for a studio...where you could at least have more privacy and autonomy. They encourage us to write positive reviews here to get free "swag." Not worth it. I want a peaceful home and Bungalow is not providing that. Update 6/16/23: I see Bungalow has replied to my review to save face. Not only were our “privileges” to screening new roommates revoked, we had same day notice that a new roommate was moving in and they entered the house with their own code yesterday. And from what little I heard they transferred from another Bungalow with a terrible roommate experience. You will not have peace living in these homes. And you can find better prices elsewhere. My existing roommate and I discovered if we put together the amount we are paying for our ROOMS in a house, we could get a shared luxury apartment for up to $800 less including utilities. They’re preying on people in the housing crisis with false advertising. Run the other way. Spread the negative word. Update 8/10/23: so our roommate screening “privileges” are still revoked, but our house preferences are still listed publicly, including no men. We received a notification today that a man will be moving into our house (red flag that he read our description and chose to move in any way). This company does not care about their tenants and will make them feel UNSAFE all for money. Absolutely horrible. Choose somewhere else to live please.
