I have had BMO checking , credit card, and money market access for 4 months and had more trouble with all than any previous banks over the past 50 years. Their credit card was always rejected due to fraud alerts. I get calls 1-2x daily about debit card fraud. I am on my third credit card and second debit because they shut them down constantly. I tore up the credit card because it was worthless...I am going back to Capital One Venture. Venture card the past 15 years without any of these problems. BMO phone staff are condescending and want me to give them my PIN over the phone....no way. I reported all of this to my local branch and they are nice, but cannot help me.

My Bank of 20+ years (Bank of the West)…
My Bank of 20+ years (Bank of the West) was taken over by BMO. Ever since then it has been failure after failure. I´m given different numbers for customer service but they all fail to provide any customer service!
Worst bank in my 50 years of banking, and that´s saying something!

Repeated poor user experiences with online banking
Sadly, my bank was bought out by BMO and in the few short months since I’ve experienced really annoying issues with their online banking system. Today I tried transferring money and the Memo section of the form wouldn’t allow me to enter in any text. Worse yet, on three separate occasions their online system has randomly rejected my login info as incorrect, even though I tried a few times in each case and I’m 100% sure I entered correct information. This occurred twice through their website and once through Venmo (verifying via Plaid). I’m confident it’s not user error on my part (I work in tech). Also, the lack of an email address for customer feedback is inexcusable. C’mon BMO, busy working adults don’t have time to call and sit on hold! I’ve never had issues with a bank before and am getting really fed up with the repeated inconveniences. They seriously need to focus on providing a better user experience. If this continues to be a pattern, I’m taking my business elsewhere, and soon.

There are SO many stories I can tell
There are SO many stories I can tell, but we shall go with my last one. I was scammed via a website. I called BMO to reverse the charge and they refuse to do it. Stating since the website has a no refund policy they have to adhere to that. And cannot reverse the charges.
I thought banks were here to protect us?

SubjectFrustrating Experience with BMO Bank Customer Service
I recently had an incredibly frustrating experience with BMO Bank's customer service that I feel compelled to share. I spent a total of 2 hours on the phone with their support team, and unfortunately, the outcome was far from satisfactory.
My primary issue revolves around discrepancies in the rewards displayed on my online banking versus what I was told by various representatives. Not only was the difference significant (100 times more on my online banking), but the process of trying to resolve this matter turned into a series of unproductive transfers and prolonged wait times.
During my calls, I was transferred between different departments, each requiring a substantial wait time of around 20 minutes, only to find that none of the representatives were equipped to address my concern. To make matters worse, one representative even attempted to transfer me to another department, leaving me on hold for over 40 minutes without ever connecting to someone.
In my subsequent call, I was disheartened to start the entire explanation process from scratch. Despite my efforts, the issue persisted, and attempts to get clear answers only resulted in additional transfers and more time wasted.
This experience has left me extremely dissatisfied with BMO Bank's customer service. Not only did it prove to be a significant waste of time, but the lack of knowledge and professionalism demonstrated by the representatives further compounded my frustration.
I sincerely hope that BMO Bank takes steps to address and improve its customer service processes, ensuring that customers receive the support and assistance they deserve.

Are they trying to steal my house???
I was transferred over with the purchase of Bank off the West. After my branch closed around covid I c!osed my checking account as I am 1 1/2 hour drive to the closest branch now, but still have a home loan. After BMO took over, I could no longer log in online to make a pymt, and when I called I got alot of run around and they apparently kept trying to charge my pymt to my closed checking account. I finally got a pymt made with the same bank account I have used and had on the system for years. Since then I have had to call and make payments each month, even though I am giving the same outside checking account, they are charging it to the closed account and of course it doesn't go through. I'm not informed and when I call I get alot of runaround. I was just 3 months behind and its damaging my credit, finally got a pymt made after speaking with a manager and having her key in the acct, all for the fee of $12 and alot of runaround. I was really starting to worry they were trying to steal my house.

Overpriced check cashing fees
Went there to cash a check from one of their customers. However, they wanted $10 check cashing fee, to cash a check that was written on one of their checks from one of their customers! Would have been cheaper to open an account and then close out the account! In any case, decided to hold off and cash at my bank!
