Bank of the West loans were taken over by BMO. We had a loan for our RV that we bought in 2016. Our statements from Bank of the West and BMO never indicated a late payment on any of their statements. I called BMO because I could not sign in and I received a recording saying we had a late fee assessed in July of 2017 for 20.84. I called and was on the phone over 45 minutes. I spoke to one agent who was polite, but said he couldn’t remove the fee. I asked to speak with a manager and I spoke to Melinda, who was polite, but she could not adjust the 20.84 fee because it was too long ago. I again reiterated that not one statement indicated we had a late fee notice. She said sorry, but again said she could not reverse the charge. I told her we have paid about 20,000.00 in interest charges and she was not going to waive 20.84? This is amazing! I am beyond frustrated and will never bank with BMO again! In fact we are going to pay off the remainder of the balance because of this! Read the rest of the reviews…if I had a choice I’d go with a more reputable bank that would work with their customers! I hope the 20.84 was worth it BMO! Since 2016 we were never late…Melinda indicated we missed the month of July…wouldn’t you think the statements from then until now would have had indicated the late fee payment? I thought it should have! I am very disappointed and on top of it I have the BMO app and have been signing in successfully and today I could not sign in. I called after all the above occurred and was told I had to re register the account! Needless to say I’m done!

Another Bank of the West customer transferred to BMO. This is one of the worst experiences of my life. The app doesn't work, the website doesn't work, calling customer service doesn't work but their automated phone calls sure seem to work every 2 weeks. It takes weeks for payments to process. Horrible

I do so miss the Bank of the West. Such a great bank. BMO has caused me so much trouble and now continues to ruin my credit rating. Three credit card payments made over the phone did not post, BMO could not do anything to help, when given the confirmation numbers, heck, the reps could hardly speak english. Their online system is always down. What a bunch of crap.

BMO acquired Bank of the West, subjected customers to a very disorganized and perplexing transition, and imposed charges on customers at every opportunity for the privilege. I have incurred late fees from some of my recurring payments (because my credit cards stopped functioning) and returned payment fees from BMO because my automated payment to them was incorrectly configured, yet they were unable to explain why. I spoke to BMO about the issue, and they would prefer to lose me as a customer than waive their punitive fees.

O.M.G. Where do I start, it all when wrong when they took over my really nice bank, Bank of the West. Their customer service is appalling. I cannot get to speak with a manager on a Saturday, and they have passed the buck so many times re a mortgage issue, I'm beginning to think they are completely incompetent. I am so, so disappointed. I was with Bank of the West for 10 years with no issues . Now, I am moving to another bank, where I can get back the service I was used too. TERRIBLE BANK, Their reviews tell you so.

I opened a CD on line, it has matured and I cannot get BMO to return the funds. They say they can only send a check not wire it back as I wired it in. I have been waiting for the check for three weeks and I cannot get them to confirm whether it has even been sent. At this point I am filing a complain with Federal Reserve. Unbelievable they cannot or will not tell you where your funds are.

BMO failed to credit a deposit of a benefit check from TIAA-Cref to our account in a timely manner. Another reason to find a different Bank for our checking and savings needs. Give them a D, for service.

Was forced to deal with this company after they purchased the original bank I had a loan with. Tried to pay the loan off as I was not happy with their customer service, but the payment was put on hold due to inability to verify my identity. I spent an hour on the phone only to be told I should cancel the payment and proceed with another form of payment that would include a fee. This caused the payment to be processed a day too late only for them to insist I pay the interest charge for the next month. This companies internal processes are a mess and customer services inability, or lack of caring, to make decisions based on individual situations leave customers having to deal with processes and policies that almost always favor profits over doing right by the customer.
