This place in Bakersfield, Ca is the worst plasma donation center I’ve ever been to. They didn’t scan my blood test in and lost it. I was them not able to donate and had to give them an additional blood test. I won’t be back and I recommend Grifols over BioLife. The female manager there has a horrible attitude and doesn’t care about her job at BioLife. I’ve never had any issues at Grifols.

I love going to bio plasma
I love going to bio plasma, the staff is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, talk and joke with you. The staff makes me comfortable, I relax and read while donating.

My appointment wasn't even close to on…
My appointment wasn't even close to on time. After waiting 3 hours I was finally in a seat. The tech messed up on my "stick" and had to have help because she went sideways. After that a 3 woman came and wanted to switch arms because the needle was inserted incorrectly. I opted to go home at that point and was told I'd be given half the donation fee of $100 and was issued $20 and nobody could explain to me how $20 is half of $100. Everyone called me by my name though.

The staff is friendly, but very distracted from their job.
The staff is friendly for the most part. 1st visit i was there for over 5 hours to donate. 2nd visit which i just completed yesterday over 2 hours. I showed up 17 mins early for my appointment and was told i had to wait outside the building until 10 mins before my appointment time, just 7 minutes but still. 2nd dontation is supposed to be one of the first to get a bed, not this time took several from the other section before me. After an hour of being there finally got called up, was finished in 25 mins but had to sit there for an additional 25 minutes due to the staff standing around talking about their shoes and not doing their job. Very hesitant to return for my 3rd appointment as the money isn't worth the time i've spent there. 7 hours so far for $180 isn't worth my time. Maybe 1 more shot.

Is going from bad to worst some…
Is going from bad to worst some employees talking instead of attending people, there is this lady that was talking with one of the donor like for 10 minutes, she was attending me, a was done and I had to wait 15-20 minutes for her to disconect me from the machine, she knew I was mad

I would of gave zero stars if possible
I would of gave zero stars if possible. I want start by saying I accepted to do 4 donations for $400 for 4 donations in a month. I made two donations with no problems. I went donate on July 20th 2023 and was declined due to someone losing my speed blood test from what the manager told me. The manager that was a phlebotomist had to redo my speed blood test that same day with no donation. They called me on August 4th 2023 and said I can donate again. I donated on August 5th and only received $40 instead of $125. The manager should of extended my donation time for someone's clerical or clinical mishap with my speed blood work. I called and spoke to manager named Roberta about the issue and she said she would fix it the problem was not fixed. I called several days in a row no answer during business hours and left a message no one got back to me. I came on 8/23/23 spoke to Ryan again. Ryan tells me my first speed blood work finally showed up. Its crazy how it magically appeared out thin air. After argue about my under payment I was told by Ryan the manager to go "f my self" and I am no longer a loud to donate there.I do not know how this hot head got a manager job with language like that and poor customer service skills. Poorly managed. The wait is like 5 plus hours or more for a return donation. I got ripped off for $85. I guess the managers need the money. My family and friends will not be returning to this location until that manager Ryan is fired for his unprofessionalism. I do not recommend donating at this location for donation. We will going Grifols until he is terminated

Stay Away from Biolife, McKnight Road!
I am currently sitting outside the Biolife location on McKnight Road that has,for the second time(by the same staff member) said I don't have an appointment, despite the fact it showed up on my Biolife calendar, and in a reminder email from the site. No explanation, no apology, simply a smirk on his face, saying nope I have no appointment. After I drove 45 minutes in rush hour traffic to get here.
I guess Biolife feels like they have enough donors to fill in the gaps of people they either injure, or treat disrespectfully.
Although there are some staff members who act professionally, it doesn't make up for those who are rude, and actually put donors' health in danger.
Here has been my experience so far at this location:
First time, I was there for over 4 hours. Technicians were nice, and were attentive when I became dizzy. They recommended I eat as close as I can to my appointment, since it can take so long.
Second appointment: Came in, not sure what to do. Staff members ignored me. Person in line said I had to wait at the desk. Waited 20 minutes until someone came over. He said I couldn't have my appointment, because I was 15 minutes late! I came back later that day.
Third appointment/donation: My fingerprint didn't register. When someone finally helped me(the nurse who performed my physical the first day) she was actually wonderful.
The technician was terribly unprofessional and caused me physical and emotional distress. He was flailing around to different machines, setting them up with no gloves on. He was pounding on different donors' beds, I guess those he recognized. He kept announcing how tired he was, and yelling to other technicians. When he finally came over to take my blood, he somehow missed my vein and had to dig around. He showed me his fist and, thinking he was saying I should squeeze, I asked if I should keep a fist or start pumping my hand. He gave me a dirty look and said, " When I want you to do something, I'll tell you."
When the blood finally began to be collected, I could tell by the machine monitor that it was going really slowly. Then the technician came over, and asked if my arm was hurting. When I looked down, I saw that blood was flowing out of my arm. The technician wiped it off and kept the needle in that arm, despite the fact it was continuing to bleed.
He finally switched arms. My arm was left with excessive bruising.
How can an establishment that performs potentially harmful medical procedures on people be so reckless with its donors???
Today: Although my appointment showed up on the calendar downloaded from the Biolife app, and I had a reminder email, when I tried to sign in at the station, it said I didn't have an appointment.
After waiting about 10 minutes, the same staff member who told me I was too late for the other appointment, said I didn't have an appointment, despite the fact it showed up on my calendar, that was downloaded from the Biolife app. When I showed him the calendar, he smirked and said, "There's no appointment here." So I drove 45 minutes, in the rain, in rush hour traffic to be turned away?! I can't help but suspect the arbitrarily deleted it because, as usual, they were understaffed.
I guess they feel like they can treat donors badly, because others will always be there to fill in the gaps. I thought I was performing a service, while getting compensated, because I was helping to serve a need for plasma. No? Are they just trying to make money?
Or maybe, when donors get closer to the amount of donations they make for their bonus, they make it miserable for them so that they'll quit coming before the hit the milestone.
How sad it is, that they would turn a service that is supposed to help people into such a negative experience. Shame on Biolife!!
Update: I just received an email from Biolife that I missed my appointment for today!

Nosey and rude
I went in to be a new donor and despite having an appointment at a set time, I waited in line for hours. I was extremely uncomfortable when the nurse kept asking me about mental health and my past mental health experiences, and other things that have NOTHING to do with my blood. She then asked me to tell her what meds I take and I couldn’t remember the name of my birth control, so I guessed (and told her I wasn’t sure). She looked at me like I was crazy. (I guessed right). After several hours I was sent home because I had to get my doctor to sign a form for me because of something that has NOTHING TO DO WITH BLOOD. To make it all better, I was talking to another donor near the waiting room and she mentioned that she thought it was cold inside, and I simply agreed. A nurse walked by and told me “well you aren’t wearing much that’s why”. Excuse me? I was wearing shorts and a tank top. Overall, for someone volunteering to be stuck with a needle multiple times and donate hours of their time, I should have been treated better.
