I have been going here to Mt. Juliet, TN Biolife for over 3 years. Its been as long as everything goes well and there are no hiccups. I drive a very good distance. About a year ago, my pulse was too high (and it was high) so i was turned away.. Yes, its a bummer. But, its the rules. Last week, the same thing happened. THE MACHINE said so, so regardless of what my pulse actually was (I counted it for 60 seconds and 90 was the highest it ever was in those 5 minutes I waited for recheck) they still MUST go by a machine..They wouldn't even recheck it on another machine.. That's the rules she says. . The nurse said that was the FDA rules, not theirs, so I need to complain to them( FDA).. Not sure when we (MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS) started relying solely on machines for our vital signs, but evidently a RN isn't capable of palpating and counting someone's pulse at this company, and solely the machine is all that can be used PER POLICY. That's my first beef with them, rules or not, that's absolutely ridiculous. I spoke to my doctor the next day, & she also agreed that's absolutely absurd. I left and walked across street, upset at this point, and its 100 degrees outside, checked my pulse at walmart less than 5 minutes after they said mine was too high at (106) and on the Walmart machine is 93.. All i can do is laugh... If anything, it should have been way high!! So that was last week. This week I come back... They routinely do labs as they get plasma to check protein levels.. Well, evidently my blood was drawn and messed up several weeks ago, and this could be for a number of reasons, but they had to redraw it the last time I gave, which was over 2 weeks now. Today, I drive here to give. Its a scheduled appt. It gets flagged as,air sign it. It won't allow me to. and says I can't give until lab is back; its still pending from 2 weeks ago.. From redrawn where it was screwed up the week before.. So, yet again, I left work early, went over 2 hours out of my way for a SCHEDULED appointment and turned away. No one could have mentioned this last week when i drove here and was turned away after being allowed to sign in and give?? Lab wasn't back that day either! I didn't get any phone call, no notification , nothing to let me know I was not eligible to donate today. The nurse today "Sharie??? Sharey??" Not sure spelling of name tells me they just do not have time to do that.. Not enough time or staff to give a call out to people with appointments, but unable to give. . So in the last 2 weeks i have wasted 5 hours of my time to be turned away and wasted. Granted, up until last week, I have not really had much of an issue except they do not get in any hurry, and they have never seemed to value the clients "time" at all, but hey, I know that, and I'm willing to go and give and spend a couple hours of my day to make a little money, and help others lives. But this last 2 weeks has really been upsetting, and the nurse was today was pretty arrogant about me being frustrated..which didn't sit very well with me either. I know its not "her" fault, and never once did I have any attitude as if it was. Frustrated, of course, did it show, absolutely. But, as a nurse myself, having a little compassion and acting like you can understand someone's frustration can go along way.. I mean, if i could afford to drive an extra 5 hours and could afford to leave work, I probably wouldn't be trying to give plasma for a some extra money.. She could have at least apologized for her companies very FLAWED system. She seemed super "put out" from the start that the lady checking me in (Patty) had asked her to talk to me and help me understand why I was allowed to give last week with "pending results" but not today. The first thing Sharie (the nurse) says as she looks at me is "i can talk until I am blue in the face, she's still not donating today, the rules are rules"... That was uncallled for, and unprofessional. Obviously my frustration was more apparent after that rude comment (towards Patty) who was helping me out. Patty was very sweet, and I could tell she was trying to help me in any way and she genuinely cared that I had driven so far, but Sharie couldn't have cared less. She was very put out she had to explain to me why machines ARE THE NORM & RULE & must be used solely, and its FDA rules. She really didn't have mucH of explanation to why last week I was eligible with pending labs (had my pulse been on) but today I cannot. They must go by what "system" says regardless of circumstances.. Patty said she would try to get my promotion extended, as it expires soon, and now I will be unable to use the full coupon. If wasn't for Patty, today would have been less than a 1 star.

I wasted a couple of hours today only to find out I could not donate plasma because I'm a gay man who takes responsibility for my health by taking an HIV preventative drug. Apparently in their minds doing this is "high risk" even though it is over 99% effective in preventing HIV and I get screened for other STDs every 3 months. I even met the qualification for not having had sex with men in more than 3 months. Welcome back to 1985 everyone!

The wait time is absolutely terrible. I have been donating for 3 years. The staff is great, but waiting more than an hour to donate is getting to be ridiculous. I try and go at off times and it still doesn’t matter. I think they need to make a speed line for your donors who have been consistent.

After having an 1140 appointment and waiting on foot in line for over an hour I’ve been waited in the bed for over half an hour and finally got poked two hours and five minutes past my appointment time. The staff was slow and uncaring

They people in Longmont are amazing. They are very professional and they are very kind and take time with each patient to ensure that the patient is comfortable. This is the only BioLife center that I will go to.

1 star is way too many! This marks my 4th visit to this facility. I'll break this down so it's easy to understand. 1st visit. The 800 dolIar incentive persuades me to change to them. I had all documentation necessary with me. I did all the necessary paperwork and computer work. I Was turned away due to some burning necessity for a doctor's release for a surgery I had some 7 years ago. Ok fine, they "assisted" me in sending the necessary forms to my PCP, which I've only seen once, and was told to return after the weekend, on a Tuesday, after 1 o'clock. 👍. 2nd- I returned. All documentation necessary again, and I was informed I could not donate that day because my doctor had not returned his unnecessary paperwork and I had to have a physical, and their doctor was out until Thursday. I went away with nothing, again. I gave up then. I should have just stayed away. About a week or so later, they call. Good news! My doctor finally did his job. They had the release. Fine. I scheduled my appointment, with extreme apprehension. Ya know, if it was bad to start, it's probably going to stay that way? 3rd- I returned, I did the physical, all the computer crap AGAIN, they signed me back up for the incentive, and I finally got to donate. YAY! I left and walked (I have to take the bus) to Target to use the ATM. Declined. Huh? I bought a pop to see if the card even worked. I did. Cool. It's a glitch right? I understand. Called the card company. My deposit was 40 dollars. I called BioLife and they said sorry about that and they "fixed it" and would be fine in 10 minutes or so. I tried the ATM. Declined. I signed up for and was promised 90. I missed the bus by that time. I was furious. I walked back to BioLife. Spent another half hour getting it straightened out. We're all good now. Dang. 4th- Today. I was pretty excited. Had a couple bills I could catch up on and what not. Cool. I went to the computer to check in. "See associate" pops up. My gut fell through the floor. I saw something coming. So I wait and the gal asked me for my paperwork. Ya know, those same ones they've already seen and entered twice. Well, "you have to have those on the same day that you donate" I was told. Ummmmmm. So she turned me away. Absolutely lost my temper. Justifiably I feel. I'm going back to the honest side of town. It appears BioLife will make sure you don't get that incentive. Don't fall for it! It just dawned on me. It's called a bait and switch. Lots of businesses do it and get away with it because they baffle you with BS and make it look as though you are at fault.
