Taking advantage of vulnerable people
I logged into BetterHelp to look around and consider restarting it (having used it briefly a few years ago). Without clear consent, my account was reopened and I was charged £180. I never used any service and had to fight through glitches to cancel. Their system makes it easy to take your money and hard to close your account or get help, a cruel setup for people who may be vulnerable or in crisis. I believe it is by design that it is effortless for them to take your money and extremely difficult for them to return it. Looking through recent reviews this looks like a growing trend. BetterHelp feels like a profit driven platform, hiding behind the language of care while exploiting technical loopholes. I’ve demanded a refund and data deletion. Proceed with extreme caution. As for therapists themselves I understand people have positive experiences but that is due to individual therapists and is in no way related to this company that is becoming increasingly parasitic.

Hi Aidan, We're so sorry about how this experience made you feel about us. I can certainly empathize with you and want to be sure the "resubscribe" process is working as intended. Our goal is not to make the process confusing or take hard-earned money from anyone without their consent -- we want to be providing valuable care and mental health support to those who are in need of it. I've requested the email address linked to your account so we can be sure this is all looked into further, and all the loose ends are tied up. Talk soon, BetterHelp Team
