Don't waste your time with these incompetent jokers. They'll deny you counseling and give you vague reasons, such as "it wouldn't be ethical" or "you don't seem like a good fit for online counseling". but press them to explain and they hide like cowards. they also told me i wasn't being charged since i didn't yet have a counselor, yet i received a refund for my 220$, so that whole you're not paying until you get a counselor is bs. can't refund me if you haven't taken my money yet. To anyone and everyone seeking mental health services, don't waste you're time on this mickey mouse garbage. Spend your money on a legitimate and competent mental health service, not these scrubs.

I like the approach that Better Help takes towards counseling. They offer many options for help.

Since covid, virtual experiences are extremely important. People still need to be able to get the help that they need. I started using bh almost 2 months ago. I had never tried therapy before. Being an introvert, having the experience all online was very attractive to me. I'm able to use the app to message my therapist, do journal entries, and look at "groupinars" (which are online seminars for specific topics/issues). My therapist is great and has helped me a lot, even in the short time so far. If that wasn't the case though, you can choose to have a new therapist at anytime. The weekly sessions are suited to your needs. You can do: video, call, and chat sessions. Whichever you are feeling like at the time. I am giving 4 stars only because it is a little pricey for me. Even though it is still cheaper than other apps.

Really enjoy the immediacy with Better Help and that I can have my therapy session in the comfort of my own home. The therapist I got is highly experienced and is changing my life for the better beyond imagination.

This review is about BetterHelp and not the counsellors. I had a great counsellor. BetterHelp is a great concept having qualified and credible therapist on their books from all over the world so there is no limitation to where someone can find a therapist. I live in the UK and could not find a Therapist /counsellor willing to give me a session after 5pm in my own timezone due to my working hours So going to BetterHelp was useful that I could find someone the other side of the world that fit into my timezone. E.G when they start work it is my evening. However, I would say that BetterHelp perhaps needs to work on their communication and payment process. It was very confusing and misleading at times. You can only book if you set up an auto-pay taken 4 weekly. Given the covid climate of people being furloughed and in financial difficulties it is not always affordable to have such large sums taken on a monthly basis. There was no room for flexibility of paying week by week. I would say this is an area they should rethink and of course the customer service communication and perhaps should have case holders where only one BetterHelp customer agent handles and communicates with same client and not have a different person replying each time. This is where the confusion lies I believe. Otherwise if you can afford monthly auto-payments, I would recommend the actual sessions from counsellors and available messagings services. Customer communication needs more work I'm afraid.

I have worked with two counselors on BetterHelp, and I’m thankful. The first one taught me some basic techniques but I needed someone else with more expertise on my behavior/mental health symptoms... so I was able to easily switch and talk to someone else after I found their profile. It’s been the best thing to help keep me going. My counselor even responds to me outside of our 30min sessions each week in app. Thank you 🙏

It's mental health for millennials. I can't ask for more. I like that there's more than 1 form of communication and my therapist is always close.

I have had some counseling experience in the past, but whether it was me or the counselor I was paired with, I just didn't enjoy the experience. This all changed with BetterHelp. This is not your traditional counseling experience, so it may not be for everyone. In my experience, I was dealing with a lot of stress at work and feeling somewhat worthless. I came to BetterHelp just to talk to someone because I felt so alone. I am so happy I made that choice! The video/phone calls are short (about a half hour) and your counselor will message you throughout the day so you are in constant contact. BetterHelp also tries to pair you with the best counselor for your needs. I was looking for a life change type counselor that could help me manage my situation. Overall, I would highly recommend BetterHelp to anyone new to counseling or anyone that has had bad experiences with counseling. Nothing is more important than your mental health, so it is worth the try!
