I came across BetterHelp online therapy. I had heard good things about it. So I signed up and paid the fee. BH had arranged an appointment for me on a particular date. When that date came, I received no phone call. Then I discovered that in order to contact customer service or the support team, there was only an email address. There wasn't even a phone number. If I'm dealing with mental health issues, I expect there to be a phone number, with someone whom I can speak with voice to voice. All good counselling services offer that. A good counselling service would want to provide an available phone number so that folks vulnerable mental health won't experience unnecessary anxiety. I have gone to therapy at different times in my life. There was always a phone number where I could contact somebody. I think it is very dangerous and harmful especially people who are struggling with severe mental health issues when there's no live person that you can talk to. I don't care if this is the 21st century. BetterHelp is clueless and I regret wasting my time andoney on their service. MY ADVICE: AVOID. A GOOD COUNSELLING SERVICE WOULD AT LEAST HAVE A 9-5 LIVE CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE.

I was a little hesitant to do therapy through an app but it has been a great experience. I got matched with a phenomenal therapist, Joy Welch, and she has helped process and gain tremendous insight on my issues . I didn’t think I’d stick around for a second month but I’m happy to continue getting professional help.

Christina has been amazing! Did a great job at ensuring we had the same expectations. This was very important as if I was looking for help in a different area of expertise she would've suggested I reach out to another therapist. BetterHelp has a great group of therapists with varying degrees of expertise across many areas.

I was struggling with in person sessions with past psychologists due to extreme anxiety. Having an online option for this has worked wonders

Edit*. Thank you for your reply, even that is misleading, my team has said no multiple times and until I posted this review, no one there was willing to help. I do appreciate the refund, would have been so much easier if you had all just done the right thing to start with and not perpetuate this tale of “caring” for those looking for or having mental health issues. I am sure the therapists are great, but the company is less than honest and will only do the right thing if called out. if you are from outside of the US, this product is not for you. They say they have international license therapist, but I was unable to actually connect with one for months yet they still took my monthly fee. I reached out multiple times to find someone that was legally allowed to practice in Canada and was sent on wild goose chases and given names of therapists that were not able to help where I live. Buyer Beware if you are not in the US
