Misleading online assessment
I answered some online assessment questions expecting to be possibly presented with a therapist and plan for service. The next morning there was a $260 charge on my bank account which overdrew my account generating bank fees. I called the number provided but the agent who answered was obviously just a phone answering service and didn't offer any explanation. She said that someone would email me within two days. I said I needed a call back immediately and reversal of the charge. She was of no help at all. I had to reverse the charges with my bank costing me fees and stress. I had no intention of contracting for therapy unless I was presented with information on a therapist and agreed to a treatment plan. Was totally surprised by the overdraft to the point that I didn't even recognize who was charging me : didn't know who betterhelp was until I googled it to find out more about who was charging me. I guess I am lucky that I noticed soon enough to deny the charge and delete them from my PayPal account. Very scammy and dishonest. OK, thank you for your response. I think the most disconcerting aspect was the apparent inability for your telephone support to provide any real answers or help. I didn't even know who you were and she was not much help. Just repeating some programmed phrases and finally said something about online therapy which triggered my memory. I really did not get any impression on the online assessment that I was agreeing to contract with you. So I had to pay my bank $30 to stop payment without reassurance from your agent.

Hi Ron, Apologies if there was any misunderstanding regarding how the upfront payment through PayPal. You should have seen a window appear prior to confirming the payment that displayed how much you'd be charged, and that the payment would be taken right away. In any case, it looks like we got back to your email within a handful of hours of receiving it, confirming your refund. Again, our apologies for any trouble surrounding the upfront charge.
