If I could leave zero stars I would. I didn’t like their pay upfront policy from the get go. I had a therapist who had a heavy accent- not a big deal but hard to understand when you’re on the phone. She made up words like “Iceburger” when she meant “iceburg”. Anyways on top of that after 2 sessions which she reached out to me to make an appointment I did not hear from her to make the third and next thing I know I get a charge for the day before on a session. I reached out to my therapist to ask why she didn’t send out an email about booking and she told me it was my fault and my job. Then I said well it’s Thursday so I have at least a few days to still Make up that session and all Of a sudden all her session times were booked and didn’t work for my eastern standard time while she was in Asia. I asked for help at the front desk and didn’t get a response. I reached out to my therapist again and she was like “yes you miss a session too bad”. I was totally left on my own! I had to write an email and tell the help desk I was cancelling and explained how disappointed I was in this entire process and to stop charging me. Then just like that I got an email telling me at the help desk they had extended my membership by a week and I should’ve just asked them to help. Really? We are going to play that game? Blame the client but still keep their money? Not once was I reassured that I was taken care of and that I would be fine with that one charge which would not be wasted. Then my therapist had the audacity to reach out to me several times after I told her stop as she was retriggering my anxieties to explain the process and to say I should’ve done more. She clearly is abusive after weeks of talking to me about how to set boundaries and take self care. I had to tell help to tell her to stop reaching out to me!! Not a forum that cares for you. They don’t tell you that insurance companies don’t cover BetterHelp. Makes you wonder why.

Hi Cris, While we can confirm our Member Success Team would be the best point of contact anytime you may have missed a week or session with your therapist, we are sorry if you were left feeling this way. Our team typically responds within 1 business day, so if you haven't seen a response it may have went to SPAM or JUNK folders. That said, they can also assist whenever you are feeling like your therapist isn't the right match to support you. To ensure we are able to address all of your concerns fully, I am going to request the email address associated with your BetterHelp account through a TrustPilot form you will receive shortly. Looking forward to speaking, BetterHelp Team

I signed up for 4 sessions to try BetterHelp. Decided after experiencing two sessions, this type of therapy was not for me. It was more like a coaching session than therapy with a lovely, enthusiastic aunt telling me the obvious. I only used two of the four sessions and decided not to use the other two as not appropriate for me. Now I find they've charged me 800 dollars for sessions which I did not agree to or know was being charged. That's 800 dollars for 90 mins. Absolute waste of money and the are still charging me for another month even though I've told them their service is not appropriate. Unprofessional, underhand taking advantage of vulnerable people. Avoid this company like the plague.

Hi Sandra, We are sorry to hear online therapy wasn't the resource you were looking for but we appreciate you giving us a chance! That said, all BetterHelp memberships will automatically renew unless cancelled. This information is presented during the registration process as well as on our FAQ page but we understand it may have been missed. It looks like you have been in touch with our Member Service Team and your requested cancellation and refund were processed a few days ago. We hope we have been able to resolve your concerns but don't hesitate to let us know if there is anything else we can help with. Best Wishes, BetterHelp Team

My experience has been great because for the value, for the cost, my therapist remains a rock and a stable man to guide my compass as we modify, change it, and learn to use it. It’s more than worth a shot!

Better Help has been a success so far. My therapist is a wonderful, professional man and he's helped so much in such a short space of time. They were able to match a therapist for me with what I selected on the app. Everything was done in a short space of 48 hours and now I'm feeling as if I'm finally making a change in life

My feeling about your system designed to a browser was very chill. Moveing to the chat window and assuming some parameters gave me a new enter.

Asks for a great deal of personal information up front before providing the cost £256 a month (£64 a week) for one 30-45 minute session a week which would be about enough time to greet each other and talk about 1 thing briefly. if you say it is too expensive, the option of 'financial aid' is provided (they drop by the price £9 for a month or so). Very much not worth it that a normal persons flexible income in month, if they're lucky enough to have a flexible income, mostly for the privilege of bopping about on their app and maybe speaking to a therapist briefly once a week or a live chat if they're too busy. No wonder they need to advertise so heavily no one would pay for this with out heavy convincing.

Hello Glod, We're sorry for any frustration here. To clarify, BetterHelp memberships include the ability to schedule a live session per week (either 30 or 45 minutes), but they also include access to many other features like Group sessions, worksheets, a digital journal and the ability to message your therapist between sessions with ease. We understand if the price you were quoted isn't currently feasible, but we can often work with members to find additional discounts if pricing is the main roadblock to getting help. That said, we would be happy to see if there is anything else we can do to help you in beginning your therapy journey with us. I am going to request the email address associated with your pending BetterHelp account, through a TrustPilot form you will receive shortly, so we can discuss things further. Sincerely, BetterHelp Team
