Modern day therapy works if you’re honest…
I’ve had therapy one on one and then with better help recently, therapy through text. At first I was skeptical but came to realize there’s something about typing out my concerns, challenges, emotions, and feelings that also make me very vulnerable and relive my trauma. Also I find it much more easy to be 100% honest. With on one live therapy, it became a lot more heavy and exhausting and hard to find the words to be vulnerable but through text it was like writing through a journal and diary. My therapist Dr. Johnston also was very encouraging and provided reassurance which is what I needed. I also liked texting because I was able to go back and read what I wrote and either hold myself accountable or see how much I’ve grown. There’s receipts of what I’ve been through. So I’d definitely recommend better help, for those looking for an outlet for someone to listen. Also I text my therapist throughout the week and am able to think about my thoughts and then write them down versus saving it all for one long session that can be exhausting.
