I do not agree. My husband was going through something, we were charged for 2 months and his therapist never saw him. Always had an "emergency" My therapist was great. And my second therapist was great, I didn't want to re-live my trauma a third time with a third therapist. This site is a stepping stone. Great if you need a quick fix. Other than that, stay away. I am coming on the one year Angelversary of my husband's death.

There is no pay button to make it obvious that you will be charged. I wanted to use the app just to look around, see if I could find good potential CBT therapists. Upon opening the app, there was a sort of questionnaire about my preferences. I just checked a box to say that my preferred option to pay would be monthly. I clicked “next” or something like that, and then immediately received a notification by my bank that I had been charged £240! What?! Absolute sharks. You’d think that for an app aimed towards therapy they’d be less greedy about immediately taking your money from you. You’d think they would make consent important. They don’t. Disgusting. I demand a refund immediately. Who do you think you are to take people’s money like that? There’s no other word than Evil. Do not use this app. Thieves.

This is just subjective. My main issue is that, as an actual poor person, I paid £45 to spend a whole session listening to the therapist give me the UK legal bumph, and then basically telling me I'd need to do all the work myself, in terms of therapy. (In my opinion the 'bumph' could have been done via emailing me something to sign.) I've tried a different therapist on here before, a couple of years ago, and should have learned my lesson. However, I thought I'd give it another go, for a specific issue. In my opinion, this sort of therapist isn't proactive enough - they pride themselves on not actually helping at all, but rather just 'being there' while you work it out for yourself. Other issues included accidentally setting French as the site language (my bad) but then being unable to get support to correct that. I personally don't think that 'counsellors' can really help a person effectively - they even say they won't anyway! - the client will need to figure it all out for themselves, sadly. I've decided to NOT add another area of stress to my life in the form of shelling out loads of money (even at the reduced rate) for no benefit. Just my feeling about it.

I really like this because I have so many options. Not only is the timing great for whenever I need it. It works with my family and my job so I can do meetings when I'm working and online and just be part of what I need to get my mental health together. I am extremely more happy in my life than what I was a month ago. Please give this a chance if you're looking for something better.

Honestly, I am impressed by BetterHelp and my therapist! I re-started therapy this January and it has been a great journey. I have had several therapists before, which never gave me the tools to be able to manage without them. With my therapist Laura, I am achieving goals for my mental health and I can feel the significance difference in my life. It’s a great service, I am kept accountable, I am supported, I am encouraged and understood. I could not recommend this more.

So to preface, I have BPD. I behave very unreasonably when people suggest I do something their way. Before our session even began my therapist almost insisted that I facetime our sessions rather than chat (my preference) and went as far as to say I may as well just talk to chatGPT. While I can appreciate the honesty it is extremely unprofessional and shows almost an intentional disregard. I have immediately cancelled any sessions and am hopeful for a refund
